The result of the move request was: moved. Moved to Pistol Shrimp Games, per WP:BARTENDER, as the most well-supported option of those provided during the discussion. BD2412 T 15:00, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pistol ShrimpPistol Shrimp (video game company) – Per WP:DIFFCAPS. The current name is likely to be confused with Alpheidae, and may frustrate readers who are expecting to land on the article for the primary topic. Disambiguation of a single capitalised letter compared to Pistol shrimp is unlikely to be sufficient. Melmann 12:00, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • Support and redirect the name to the primary, Alpheidae. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:20, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose This totally flies in the face of DIFFCAPS. The animal is never referred to as a proper name, so unless there is evidence of that, it shouldn't be moved. I am, however, not sure this article passes WP:NCORP. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 16:39, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Where that guideline says "Ambiguity may arise when typographically near-identical expressions have distinct meanings", it goes on to recommend ways to remove the ambiguity. It's not endorsing the small differences approach, just says it's sometimes accepted. Dicklyon (talk) 03:18, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support move to Pistol Shrimp Games or Pistol Shrimp (company): The company calls itself "Pistol Shrimp Games", and that is also the name of its website address and the name given in the opening sentence. That would provide WP:NATURALDIS disambiguation. See https://pistolshrimpgames.com/home. It's simply not true that no one uses capital letters for the common names of fauna. On the contrary, that is a very frequent practice, as many people practice WP:SIGCAPS as a convention. Uppercased flora and fauna names are typically redirected to lowercase ones, with rare exceptions. Wikipedia used to explicitly use uppercase for common names for bird and butterfly topics, and I clearly remember when that was changed at WP:NCFAUNACAPS. Breed and cultivar names are still capped by Wikipedia convention (German Shepherd, American Quarter Horse). Readers cannot be expected to be familiar with Wikipedia's capitalization convention. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:51, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Now I regret not going for a natural disambiguation of Pistol Shrimp Games, but at the time, I looked for a natural disambiguation and didn't come up with anything that made sense. The (company) version I'm ambivalent about. I thought about just using (game company) but didn't want to cause confusion with board/tabletop/non-video game companies.
Given the existing level of support, I think we just let the process play out since proposed name is an improvement in my opinion, but if you wish to request another move, I'd support Pistol Shrimp Games. Melmann 15:08, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support the animal has 7,026 views compared with only 79[[1]] for the game and as noted fauna are often capitalized. The base name should probably be a DAB. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:10, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support move to Pistol Shrimp Games or Pistol Shrimp (company): Echoing  BarrelProof, capitalization is not uncommon in species common names. This title should redirect to Alpheidae and there should be a hatnote indicating that the game company is another meaning. That is, if this company is considered notable. The shrimp gets far more coverage in search results. SchreiberBike | ⌨  00:01, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the article should be renamed. I am sorry for creating article by the name "Pistol Shrimp" without mentioning that this is a game company. Celtoi (talk) 10:46, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Note to the discussion closer: I'm not sure what exactly is the procedure for situations like this, but if you were to find consensus to move, but instead boldly changed the new name to Pistol Shrimp Games, I would support your actions as uncontroversial move, and would not see it as a contentious move, at least as far as I'm concerned. It is not unusual for the outcome of an RM discussion to be somewhat different from the initial proposal. This is routine. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:09, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
