Talk:Shinobido: Way of the Ninja
I'll keep this article at Start-Class, Low-Importance for a number of reasons:
- The biggest problem is the huge lack of sources. There's only one source outside of the Reception section. See WP:CITE and other relevant pages.
- At least one screenshot (depending on article size) should be included.
- You'll need a fair use rationale for the box art currently in the article and any subsequent screenshots, even if you take them yourself. See WP:FURG.
- Lead needs serious attention. See WP:LS.
- "Prominent characters" is usually a subsection of a story section (which also features plot summary, setting etc). It should also be converted from list-form into prose. A good example of a character section can be found at FF7#Characters.
- The plot summary needs to A) summarise and B) do this to all the plot, rather than providing a first-page-in-the-manual-style synopsis. Out of all the sections of all the video game articles, this section is usually the one with the fewest citations.
- Reception needs to be expanded: this can be done by quoting from specific reviews. All Video Game Featured Articles should have a section which will help.
- "History" should be expanded. Currently it seems to cover the beginning (losing right to another series and creating this one instead) and the fact it won't be going to the States. How about the date of its announcement? Any previews at show such as E3? Any details on when the game went gold? Were there any unexpected delays? All information along these lines should feature in this section.
- "Prologue" should be converted into original text following Wikipedia's Manual of style (the quotations suggest it was copied out of the game or something similar).
- Other than sources the main problem with this article is that Wikipedia isn't a game guide:
- Gameplay section is far too long and too much like a game guide. The size of this article can be greatly reduced simply by removing the unnecessary details. Take paragraph 3 about stealth kills, for example. Simply saying that stealth skills are one-hit kills which take advantage of the environment would suffice: the example given are not needed. Cut back on the rest of the detail in this section in similar ways.
Usually "the player" or some variant/s is used instead of the character name.- The opponents section goes into too much detail, and in its current list form is unencyclopedic. You could probably replace the entire section by saying something along the lines of "the player fights a number of different types of ninjas of varying difficulty".
- The warring clans should be taken out of list form, condensed and be a subsection of the story section.
- There are tense issues e.g. "Goh/the player [as per suggestion above] will face" should be "Goh/the player faces", and so on.
You could probably get B-class by sorting out the gameplay and story problems and adding images and references. If you have any questions feel free to ask me.
Hope this helps, UnaLaguna 06:58, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks again for another assessment :) QuagmireDog 07:31, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- No problem at all. I read the guidelines for video game articles yesterday (for the first time >_>), and it seems that referring to the character by their name is acceptable, although it seems to be less common. UnaLaguna 20:29, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

- Checked. Both working. Dhtwiki (talk) 12:10, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- The above should read "All three working", as the third link seems useful. Dhtwiki (talk) 02:43, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

- Thank you. Both links work but only the first was changed in article. I have added the second. Dhtwiki (talk) 21:26, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
Don't reinstate vast amounts of unsourced trivia (such as character biographies not even written out-of-universe) and game-guide content, it's not Shinobido Wikia where it is already
editInstead provide more development and/or reception info (with sources), and an actual gameplay image (with HUD), and perhaps further trim the still massive gameplay section. --94.246.144.29 (talk) 11:27, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
Also I see people have already told you pretty much this 9 years ago. --94.246.144.29 (talk) 11:46, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
- Who told him? I certainly didn't. Explain yourself or I'm reverting the edits. We're not having some anonymous editor simply come along and remove half of the article because he/she doesn't like to read. The Cake is a Lie T / C 03:58, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- I thought that he meant the first section of this page, dated 2007. It seems to be a somewhat thorough evaluation coming from someone who has enough authority to be rating articles according to class. Since it's more than just I who's shown interest, the mass deletion probably should be reverted and problems with the article discussed here. The OP may have a point about the amount of detail and they did try to improve the lead, which is too slender for such a lengthy article. Dhtwiki (talk) 05:54, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

Shinobido article
editLooking through the article's history, I'm seeing a massive disconnect with the incentive of providing information here, as the current article appears far less informative than it was three years ago. I've learned much more about the game from almost ancient edits at this point than what this current article offers. Just putting that out there. 203.213.49.205 (talk) 11:57, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a repository for every single unsourced or trivial detail. We have several manual of style and template guidelines to govern what is and isn't included. See MOS:VG for the major manual of style guideline applicable here, as well as its subsection WP:VGSCOPE. -- ferret (talk) 14:36, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- You're a clown, Ferret. Clearly the article was more informative much before you bureaucrat drones came along. It's all "Blah" this rule and "blah" that directive. Pretty sad you've actually removed knowledge from a website dedicated to knowledge. I can only hope you'll actually follow up on all of the stuff you've deleted, but I'm guessing you won't.
