A Brit, living in New Zealand, I have a scientific editing background. I have interests in all sorts of things, but especially women in science, women in New Zealand, science in New Zealand, and history. From the beginning of 2022, I have been mostly working on the NZThesisProject, but have also worked on women in architecture, honours recipients, and early New Zealand women photographers (a Wikidata project).
I was at WikiCon in Hokitika in March 2021, and Auckland in July 2022, and Wellington in March 2023, and Wikimania in Singapore in 2023. I was at Wikimania in Poland in 2024 too (lucky me), here is my report!
I am a (very) part-time employee of the University of Otago Department of Anatomy, where I edit publications or grant proposals. My paid work does not involve editing Wikimedia. When I am editing Wikipedia, Wikidata or contributing to Wikimedia Commons I always strive to abide by the accepted practices on conflicts of interest, neutrality, and notability of that particular project. I will not make edits that I do not believe are in accordance with that Wikimedia Foundation projects practices and procedures. If you believe I have made an error or violated Wikipedia’s norms, please do not hesitate to contact me through my talk page.
During 2024 I aim to write one start page biography for a woman every day. The list of those pages is at 1woman1day2024 list. I work a lot on academic biographies, I have a Listeria for women professors in New Zealand and a template for academic biographies - see Resources section below. Other pages I've created are here. My Accumulated monthly reports to Aotearoa Online meeting for 2023 and 2024, also includes my to-do list for awards etc.
I am not actively writing pages for the recipients of this medal, but I am interested in seeing how they get covered overt time, as I added all the recipients to Wikidata in 2021. 544 people (men and women) were given a New Zealand Suffrage Centennial Medal.
