Paul Leif Andersen has dedicated a large portion of his professional career to serving numerous organizations related to internet governance, namely CIRA and ARIN.
Born in Toronto, Paul graduated from University of Toronto in 1999 with a Bachelor Degree in Applied Science, Computer Engineering.
Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA)
editPaul has served on the Board of Directors of CIRA since 2000 and is currently the Chair. Throughout the years Paul has been actively involved in various CIRA committees. [1]
American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN)
editPaul began serving the ARIN community in 2004 when he joined the Advisory Council. He was subsequently re-elected in 2004 and 2007 and his term was set to expire on December 31st, 2010. Paul vacated his seat on the Advisory Council in December 2009 after being successfully elected to serve on the Board of Trustees. His term on the Board of Trustees expires December 31, 2012 [2]
The Toronto Internet Exchange (TorIX)
editPaul was elected to serve on the TorIX Board of Directors in 2007, and was subsequently re-elected in 2009. After the 2009 election he served as President/Chair of the organization. During that time he led the organization through unprecedented growth and spearheaded the efforts to have the Bylaws of the organization overhauled and modernized to allow for, among other things, electronic elections. These new Bylaws were approved by the members at a membership meeting that was held December 2, 2009. [3]
Unfortunately for the organization and its members, Paul advised the membership on January 15, 2010 via email that he had declined his nomination for the upcoming election due to personal time constraints, thereby ending his tenure on the board at the end of the 2010 election cycle.
