Hi there! My name is Robert Gombos and I'm 37 38 years old. My father is Hungarian and my mother is German. I have two uni. degrees (Biochemistry and Visual Arts). Currently I still study towards my MFA.. In 2019 I have started by PhD studies.
I am an extremely open minded person and I really believe in respecting each other's opinion iar more constructive rather than judging and being rude.
I consider myself tempered, pacifist and mature. However, I can be bold if the situation really requires it. Also, I respect others', their work, their opinion (even if I think otherwise). I have never been blocked or involved in any type of edit warring.
I'm also attracted to everything related to the Internet: servers, Linux, HTML, PHP, developing stuff and more. Probably it's worth mentioning that I've been a DMOZ editor in several cats (this was one of them). However, AOL decided to shut down the project in March, 2017, but hopefully DMOZ will be revived in some form. I have this Wikipedia account since 2012 but haven't done much edits because I dedicated my free time editing The Open Directory Project 'till it's closure.
If there is any issue regarding my editing style, let me know. I tend to improve poorly sourced articles instead of filling them up with tags (basically I'd throw the ball to the other corner). I do not think that the number of edits worth much, rather their quality.
That depends on my time and several other factors.
If the NPP backlog is getting huge, I review/patrol pages; I found this as being a very tendentius process because I like to check every aspect related to quality (e.g. many new editors create articles that have a huge pottention of being encyclopedic content but the content, unfortunately, is poorly sources. I check that out, yeah, and if I consider a certain topic, BLP etc, promissing - I get involved).
Wikipedia has a huge amount of pages containing maintenance tags. Honestly, I don't care about the number of edits because Wikipedia is not a contest. So, instead of tagging, tagging, tagging... I try to resolve the issues a specific tag was placed on a page, instead.
I have tons of photographs wich were taken over the last decate in various places in Europe. Some of them were already released to Wikimedia Commons, but I prefer uploading them as need.
AfD is another aspect I like to get involved in, from time to time.
Opinating when needed on various Wikipedia related topics is something that I do, as well.
Also, whenever I can (time, time, time...) I'm trying to improve articles (mainly expanding, reffing, addressing possible m. tags) related to Visual arts, Biology, Science and much more.
Note: Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if help is needed in any of the highlighted area.
April, 2016 - participated to an exhibition in Serbia.[1]
May, 2017 - Bought some reference books to sustain my fine-arts graduation, I intend to add notable works and citations to some contemporary artists. Also targeting colors and photography (my graduation project it's about a series of low key photographs, mostly black with some red abstract shapes). This is how my fine arts graduation work looked like.[2]
March, 2018 - participated to another exhibition, "Traditions and Experiment in Academic Photography". [3]
October, 2019 - I've started a three year long journey towards a phD in Arts.
In July, 2017 I got my B.F.A. and currently I'm heading towards M.F.A. The entire work's name was The Prisoner Inside Your Soul.[2] Behind the black dominated images every single aspect of the art-work tells a story (death of Love as a philosophical concept). If you're an art addicted or a philosopher, I can give more details. :)
I disclose that I own Jasmine Directory, a project that I and my colleagues are maintaining and working on since 2009. Robertgombos (talk) 00:11, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
I have this Wikipedia account for about 5 6 years. As I already stated, I have been also an editor at the AOL's DMOZ project (I hope this is not considered a COI), where I edited several categories including the web directory related ones (on curlie.org we are still working on reviving the work of over 93000 editors). I have never ever tried to create a page for my directory on Wikipedia. I know that people tend to become subjective when it comes to something related to something they own (and I do understand the psychology behind this impulsive behavior) however, during all these years spent on DMOZ I learned what NPOV means.
So, even if I had enough sources for citation, I told myself, frankly, there's no point creating a page because, most likely, it will be deleted. In May, in my Google Analytics account, I saw a few visitors originating from Wikipedia.
I haven't done any edits until I made sure I don't violate any of WP's policies and was advised to to them; I have disclosed back than on my user page that I am the owner of Jasmine Directory.
Other editors verified the sources, corrected some errors. Than, another editor came an restructured entirely the published page. Than a third editor came and corrected some minor punctuation errors and verified again the sources. If someone wants to compare the initial version of the entry with the current (draft) one it's clear that is drastically different.
Obviously, Jasmine Directory, was on my WL. On July 5, 2017, the page was moved in the draft space because being under-sourced and from what I've been reading; the user that created the page had some issues regarding WP's policy.
Therefore, as advised by DESiegel on his talk page on 12:28, 6 July 2017 (UTC) (citing: "If you choose to declare your conflict of interest openly, on the talk page of the draft, or on your own user page, or both You may add sources to the draft. You may then ask for an AFC review of the draft. From there on things will be up to the reviewer." and "That should be fine. If you prefer, list sources and statements on Draft talk:Jasmine Directory, ping me there or put a note here, and I will evaluate them; and make the edits to the draft if they seem proper."), I have added the {{UserboxCOI}} tag to my user page and the {{connected contributor}} to the draft's page. The AfC reviewer reviewed and accepted the AfC submission on July 12 2017 (22:46).
The page was nominated for deletion on 30 April 2018. The result of the discussion was keep.
I refrained myself from doing any edit on or related to the page in question as per Wikipedia's policies and because it is ethical in so many ways. Robertgombos (talk) 06:54, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
