I am a resident of Ohio and an author (books and magazine articles). My fields of interest include Ohio history, Marion and Marion County Ohio and pre-1970 American Automobiles.
I am somewhat skeptical about the value of Wikipedia - While I agree and support the spread and sharing of information, I have had cause for concern - having formerly been on Wikipedia under a different user name, I have observed how easily one can be attacked for standing up for facts in the face of those who feel their POV (feelings) trumps NPOV (facts). I expirienced first hand how utterly ruthless Wikipedians can get when they decide to prove a point. I have also seen where Wikipedians have asked for help while being attacked and have been left to die on the vine.
I am also concerned by the inclusion of rumors presented as fact.
Opinions belong on the talk pages, articles should always be based on facts (from a variety of sources, not simply what other web pages say on the matter) as they are, not how one would like them portrayed.
Projects that interest me include:
- Maintaining the article of Warren G. Harding as to ensure that popular misinformation about Harding are kept out of the article and that verifiable facts remain at the core at the article.
- Fixing the First Lady article so that it makes sense, both in its historical context and in its current context. (Done!)
- Articles for deletion process (I tend to be a deletionist).
