Chelsdog
Thank you
editHey! Just wanted to say thank you for the tidy-up you did on the lists of Chelsea players. I went through each one on a couple of sites, and some of the positions are missing for players from >100 years ago, so thanks for filling in some missing info. Omari Hutchinson
editHey, just a quick one to explain my recent edits on Hutchinson's page. So, The Athletic did an article on Malcolm Ebiowei, and in the article they state the following: "Initially spotted as a five-year-old at Chelsea’s pre-academy development centre in Lambeth, Chelsea successfully fended off other suitors to sign him (Ebiowei) up. The Bermondsey-raised winger was part of a group including Omari Hutchinson and Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who later followed Ebiowei from west to north London to join Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy as youngsters."
I see The Athletic as a pretty solid source, and the info is correct on Norton-Cuffy, so I assume Hutchinson did play for Chelsea at some point; maybe under-8 or something. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 10:06, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Recent article creations
editHey, just a heads up regarding your recent page creations (Dion Rankine, Brodi Hughes, Josh Brooking, Louis Flower and Alfie Gilchrist); I think there is a very strong chance that all will be marked for deletion, as they (with the exception of maybe Gilchrist) don't appear to meet WP:GNG. Articles on Wikipedia need to meet a notability threshold, and there is more information written at WP:BASIC. From what I've learned during my time editing, it is generally accepted that three independent news articles regarding the topic/person tends to be enough.
This is by no means a personal attack, and I have been in your position before, where I've wanted to create as many articles as possible for footballers. There used to be an assumption that footballers who played in one of the "fully professional leagues" would automatically be notable, but this was proven time after time to not always be true, so (as it always was, really) articles are required to meet notability guidelines.
What sets articles such as Tudor Mendel-Idowu, Derrick Abu and Leo Castledine apart from the articles you've recently created is the general notability guidelines I mentioned earlier. For Mendel-Idowu, there is an entire FIFA.com article speaking about his career and education, with allnigeriasoccer.com providing additional coverage. Abu has multiple articles written about him in Nigerian and German media, while Castledine has a very detailed article in The Athletic about his early life, as well as supporting sources.
When creating new articles, it is best to always find at least three independent sources to work from. You may have noticed that websites like The Sun and The Daily Mail are banned from being used on Wikipedia, as they are deemed unreliable. While not banned, sources such as tribalfootball are not the most reliable, and have on occasion provided incorrect details. Your best bet is finding sources such as The Athletic, Evening Standard or goal.com, as well as a number of foreign media outlets, if possible. Chelseafc.com themselves do not count towards notability, as they are not an independent source.
I don't want this message to dissuade you from creating articles in future, as I will always be one to advocate for more articles on Wikipedia when possible, I'm just aware that there are guidelines, and other editors adhere to them quite strictly. If you need anything, let me know. Davidlofgren1996 (talk) 13:24, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your warm reminder. I'll find ways to improve those articles. Cheers. Chelsdog (talk) 14:45, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
