Speedy deletion of Ausenco

A tag has been placed on Ausenco, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Help Desk posting

Hi E, I noticed a post you made on the help desk. (on CPU testing proggie). Do you have experience writing a bootable partition to a thumb drive? I'd like to make one of my thumb drives bootable (preferably using an ERD .iso or BartPE.iso file) but could be convinced to use Ubuntu if need be. I've done some reading on the web about it, but most of the sites I've seen make it appear to be more difficult than it should be. I'm looking for a point by point type of thing to make a bootable thumb.

• format thumb drive as FAT
• download xyz.zip, and run on computer HD
• insert thumb and run prog. abc.exe from xyz.zip
• copy folder q to thumb.

something easy to follow ... ya know what I mean?

Hi there, the only experience i have with making a thumb drive bootable is installing a OS directly on it from a computer that does not have a hard drive. It has worked very well. i have a 4 gig drive with a fully updated virsion of ubuntu 8.10 with some windows repair utilities on it. So far the only problem with it that i have come across is if i load a driver for medium to high end video card, it will give me problems when i move to another computer. So to Avoid that i simply use generic drivers. I hope this helped. – Elliott  17:47, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

SineBot

Thanks for the tip, I did know but {{NoAutosign}} will cause SineBot to stop signing my comments altogether, which may be seen as disruptive by some editors as they would have to check the history to see who the poster was - and I recall at least one Ip being blocked for exactly this recently. It seems there is not a way to have SineBot sign comments and not post the reminder message.

This is true. But SineBot is here to sign the posts of people who 'forget' to sign their posts, you can sign it your self by adding ~~~~ to the end of your message. That will tell wiki's html compiler to sign it for you.– Elliott(Talk|Cont)  20:23, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Public Enemy

It's unclear to me why you reverted my change to the "Public Enemy" article. The change I made helped the article by removing recent vandalism. Wireless Issue

Hi Elliott,

Sorry for the late reply. The customer waited until yesterday to call me back. I just got back from his house. I started reconfiguring the network connections on his computer, but after a couple of hours, he had me leave. I disabled DHCP on the router and ICS on the desktop. His wired connection had been assigned a static IP address, so I tried setting the IP address in his router to the IP address for the wired connection in the desktop. Then I set the laptop to use a static IP assigned by the router with the router as the default gateway. Nothing I tried seemed to work, though, and he never gives me enough time to finish. I think you had the right idea, though, and if I had got the implementation right, I'm sure it would have worked. I recommended that he purchase a wireless repeater before I left, but he said he'd try to get the current setup to work. I was wrong about the cable being crossover, by the way. The yellow color of the cable threw me off.

Well, I'm glad I probably won't have to deal with it anymore. It is probably out of my league, anyway. Thanks for your suggestions, though. I really appreciate it!

Thanks for uploading File:Pastespecial.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.
