Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Please do not add information to an article without providing a reliable source to support that information. Without adding a source to support tha thte character from the comic books is the same one from the series, it looks like you are deciding that they are the same. As editors we don't get to do that. So, before you add it back in, fine a supporting reference from a reliable source. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 02:11, 18 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from List of villains in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman into Deathstroke. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. Deathstroke

edit

Wintergreen not being referred to by his alias on-screen is irrelevant. There are several characters in the Arrowverse that never verbally use their alias. Even in shows like Agents of SHIELD and Gotham, characters such as Mockingbird and Tigress never use their alias on the show (despite the being confirmed by the writers and marketing).

Wintergreen is the original Deathstroke in Arrow. Both the CW website, concept art, and the end credits of the show itself tell us that. There's no reason to dance around it just because it's not like the comic. DarkKnight2149 16:13, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Injustice League

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Injustice League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Injustice League. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.   Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Injustice League, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Onel5969 TT me 12:09, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

edit

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

There were already reliable sources that you just cut the feet under. All that stuff you trimmed was well and rightly sourced. I listed the episode of Titans as a source, and you revoked it. JosephWC (talk) 18:40, 28 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

You are about to be blocked because you are continuing to edit war even with an ignored talk page discussion underway

edit

Despite your protests, not much you've added to Sal Maroni qualifies as a reliable source. User-generated websites like fandom wikis and primary sources like the comic itself don't meet the standard for significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject. I have no strong objection to your insertion of such wikis as external links or primary documents as support. However, using such sources to speak in Wikipedia's voice is entirely inappropriate. Note the talk page discussion and please contribute to that. If you continue to ignore the discussion and edit live pagespace in a disruptive way, someone will block you, perhaps myself. The Clock King

edit

Hey Man,

What's your source for the DC Rebirth Clock King being Billy Tockman from New 52? I totally believe that they called him William Tockman, maybe on the boat with Nightwing, but unless it's specifically the New 52 one I don't know if it should be called Billy. Most notably, he has different glasses instead of sunglasses, and idk, his look is just that bit different for me to assume it's in the same continuity. They also probably didn't say anything about him being a former engineer in New 52, although this can naturally be excused with timeline tampering. Very interested in seeing if they added confirmation.

Thanks, Klayman55 (talk) 03:56, 29 March 2022 (UTC)Klayman55Reply

I'm not up to date on this character, i assume it might be the same but not sure. Either way, if it's the same character and they acknowledge it being Tockman, then it's the same. If not, different. JosephWC (talk) 19:58, 29 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Then why'd you edit it back in August? I'll admit, it's currently a bit confusing as we have separate sections for "Willaim Tockman" and "Billy" (the New 52 version), but that might change. Klayman55 (talk) 04:17, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
I edit alotta stuff, dude I forgot about the multiple Clock Kings. Looking back at the sites I use, its TOCKMAN. JosephWC (talk) 05:12, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
https://comicnewbies.com/2018/06/23/green-arrow-vs-the-clock-king-rebirth/

Copying licensed material requires attribution

edit

Hi. I see in a recent addition to List of DC Comics characters: D you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 23:03, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Re: Characters (in general)

edit

Please enlighten me. Why do you add plot information to character pages, such as the Ghost Riders. My understanding is that we're not supposed to list plot information in the "In other media" sections in the first place since it's supposed to be listed somewhere else. Based on what happened to pages like Thanos or the Scarlet Witch, we're only to supposed to list information on why certain media depictions of a character are different from their comic book original and not every episode appearance they made, no matter how minor or unimportant to Wikipedia it is. In other words, I don't want what happened to Professor Pyg, who got his "In other media" section deleted outright, to happen anywhere else, but you are making things difficult. At the very least, your edits don't seem to have sourcing behind them nor a professional tone in some cases, and I'm not the only editor willing to undo edits based on the former alone. I'm not trying to be mean, but if you could just help me understand why you disagree with my attempts to reduce the bloat in "In other media" sections before admins delete the whole section outright, maybe I'll lighten up. Blazewing16 (talk) 04:52, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Pyg's other media section is detailed, what are you talking about his section being deleted "outright"?? My notion is to give some details of the plot, if you can help me detail em professionally, sure. I wanna work on this, and i'll take advice as long as there's something, even brief like i posted JosephWC (talk) 23:56, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

JosephWC, we're not done here--you removed it without addressing the very valid points that Blazewing16 made. Adding plot in character lists turns all these articles into cruft, and adding unverified "In other media" is one of the many things that's wrong with so many articles. We're an encyclopedia. In addition, you are going to have to actually address concerns from other editors; simply deleting those comments and continuing as if nothing happened is the contrary of what a collaborative project requires. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 23:55, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Re: Killer Croc

edit

We don't need to list every episode that a character appeared in, especially if nothing notable happens. One episode (that includes multi-parters) is fine, but two or more is unnecessary unless they are especially notable AND can be reliably sourced per WP:CITE and WP:SOURCE. Blazewing16 (talk) 15:19, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

What's the harm? Listing episodes with sites that confirm said episodes isn't gonna help with you and your lot. JosephWC (talk) 19:46, 20 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
JosephWC, first of all your rudeness is HIGHLY unnecessary, like your episode listings. Rudeness won't get you anywhere. Second of all, we do NOT need laundry lists cluttering up Wikipedia. Even with sourcing, we cannot just list every single episode that a character has appeared in because it would just get excessive. For example, we can't list every single episode that Alice from Batwoman has appeared in because she's a main character and thus appears in a majority of the episodes, which would create the most bloated entry in her "In other media" section. You cannot just add things for the sake of adding things. Only the most important material is allowed. Blazewing16 (talk) 02:50, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Stark difference BETWEEN A SERIES REGULAR and someone like Croc in BTAS. How about add material like his history with Bullock in his debut or Baby Doll in TNBA? I'm fucking frustrated sorry. JosephWC (talk) 03:00, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's fine. I was angry too because I just woke up. My non-Wikipedia life is a mess right now. Also, bad example, I know. Anyway, a brief overview should suffice. We don't need to list the episodes, just the important details from the most notable ones. Just give me some time and I'll attempt to come up with an overview for Croc's appearances. Blazewing16 (talk) 03:40, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Re: Firefly

edit

First of all, cursing is HIGHLY unnecessary. If you have disagreements with editors, be civil and talk to them about it. Don't be a WP:DIVA and curse out people for the sake of cursing. Second, where is your reasoning behind the changes made to the Firefly page? I explained (poorly, I'll admit) in my edit summary that the alternate versions of Firefly involved originated in media that have more to do with comics-inspired media, not the comics themselves. Everywhere I go, Smallville Season 11 and the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series tie-in comics are ALWAYS in the "In other media" section. As for the DCEU tie-in comic; yes, the DCEU is based on DC Comics. BUT, it's still not the comics themselves. The tie-in comic belongs to the DCEU, which itself belongs in the "In other media" section. Next time, just provide a good reason for your edits and stop getting so violent towards other people. Blazewing16 (talk) 04:38, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I know what a diva is, thank you. It's always been OTHER VERSIONS since the beginning of this page, feels like some of you guys like the change for the sake of it, but ok. JosephWC (talk) 04:54, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Blazewing is too nice to jerks like you. Ignoring the rules, your own mistakes, and people pointing out your flaws? That'll really get you far in life. Also, I've seen what was happening in the Firefly page and since you don't WANT to understand the rules because you're so much better than them, I'll try my best to explain this in such a way even YOU will understand. Other versions refers to comic book alternate universes like Flashpoint, Red Son, and Gotham by Gaslight. NOT films, TV series, or tie-ins to those media! If you don't like it here, go edit the fan wikis! OilSlick96 (talk) 05:06, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

To User:JosephWC, you also cannot just remove citation requests without a good reason nor make up citations for things that don't exist, like Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which as near as I can tell, doesn't have a tie-in comic. Re: Onomatopoeia

edit

I understand that the material that you added is short, sweet, and to the point, but there's no point in adding them. Onomatopoeia is already a Green Arrow enemy, and he's fought him and Black Canary in the comics before, so there's no point in saying that again in the "In other media" section. There's also no point in saying Onomatopoeia fights the Arrow while the latter is fighting Deathstroke's gang because, while that never happened in the comics, ultimately, nobody cares about that sort of thing. It's incredibly minor and something that only hardcore fans care about, not general readers. For the most part, we're only supposed to list the details that differentiate a certain depiction of a comic book character from the original comics version. For example, comic book Onomatopoeia doesn't have Ono-Bots, so we can list that. Everything else that you want to add, we cannot. Yes, I concede that I left a lot of story detail for certain characters like Doomsday and Black Mask, but in my mind, if their story leads up to a death or if it feels significant enough that it must be listed, I'm going to try my best to leave it in with only the bare minimum of details unless an admin or someone much more experienced than me says otherwise. Anyway, I hope you understand why I did what I did in regards to Onomatopoeia. Blazewing16 (talk) 01:41, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand. JosephWC (talk) 02:17, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

In Regards to Amazing-Man

edit

Look, I get it. The anon IP's actions come off as vandalism and they are coming off as a jerk about it. However, I'm forced to acknowledge that they have somewhat of a point. Trivial non-appearances, or mentions as they put it, do not count. Yes, the entry for The Flash has sourcing, but it violates WP:EGG, which forbids the inclusion of Easter eggs. So does the Young Justice one, which is poorly worded in the first place and doesn't even having sourcing to back it up. I acknowledge the Young Justice incarnation of Amazing-Man as being important to Onyx's character, but he still didn't appear in Young Justice. On sourcing alone, I already can't allow its inclusion, but name checks make it doubly unworthy of inclusion on Wikipedia. Please do not start an WP:EDITWAR over this, for goodness sake. Re: Nimrod

edit

Just so you know, I've been somewhat monitoring the situation with Nimrod, so before you go ballistic again, this is another case of the IP address being correct despite coming off as a jerk about it. I can't remember the specific reason why, but show titles are italicized while episode titles are in quotation marks. Also, you can't use fan wikis as sources because those are basically Wikipedia, but worse. If anyone can edit the website, then it's not a reliable source. You will then need to concisely and clearly tell how your editing merited a block, what you would do different, and what constructive edits you would make. Before again requesting unblocking, please read the Guide to Appealing Blocks . -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 08:59, 24 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
