Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 7-Eleven, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ACCC. Rudd image?

edit

This image looks severely robotic, while this pretty much looks perfect. I'm not sure why you say the expression in the second photo is weird, you might be alone in that thought. Regardless, this image is superior for many other reasons: more natural skin tone, looks less photoshopped, is a much higher resolution portrait image at 2249 × 2977 pixels, has the later cc-by-sa-4.0 rather than 3.0 permission, and has the perfect permission addition - OTRS. Lastly, despite your claims otherwise, this image does indeed have consensus by way of status quo since December 2016 - see history revisions. In the past few weeks i've been doing some (tooting my own horn here) great work with all the images that you might find at List of Prime Ministers of Australia, List of Australian Leaders of the Opposition, major party articles and election articles, with the vast majority updated with better, higher res, or improved quality images. I've had zero disputes whatsoever, indicating the choices i'm making are all-round meeting with approval after more than a decade of experience. If you look at the articles you might notice I have an eye for what constitutes the best photo available for each leader. I hope you can take on-board all of this and appreciate the changes. Timeshift (talk) 17:28, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for the note and explaining your reasoning. Absolutely I've noticed your contributions, being active in this area myself (Australian politician articles and images). Flicking between the two in full-size I can now see your point that the one I put looks less natural in terms of colour tone (and also possibly photoshopped?); I suppose this point alone is most important given that the photo is for a factual, encyclopaedic article. I still prefer the one I put in terms of the composition and the expression (I think of it more as dignified rather than robotic); in my opinion there is something about his display of teeth in your preferred one that looks odd to me and detracts from an otherwise good photo. Regarding consensus, I seem to remember the main photo changing a few times by various editors without explanation, but I guess that was longer ago than I thought. So anyway, I'm fine if we keep it as your preferred one. If a better image somehow surfaces then I'm sure of course it will be considered. Cheers. Liguer (talk) 18:25, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I don't think his teeth look "odd" in this photo... and considering it is OTRS, who better to not be bothered by his "teeth" than the subject and image author! If the source is fine with the "teeth", why wouldn't we? I really don't see an issue with his "teeth". Thanks for the reply however. Timeshift (talk) 20:46, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Fiona Nash

edit

Hello, I'm 152.91.9.167. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Fiona_Nash have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please stop placing historic information in the infobox of this article. Information regarding the minister's past citizenship status is appropriately included in the body of the article. You have not provided any information supporting your claim that the subject was a British citizen from birth, and legal opinion on this matter is inconclusive. Please keep edits consistent with other pages for political figures. Sam Dastyari's infobox does not include his previous Iranian citizenship, Katy Gallagher's infobox omits her previous British citizenship. Wikipedia is not a platform for political favoritism, and should treat all figures consistently

@152.91.9.167: My edits are not unconstructive and you are misusing a vandalism template. She was in fact a UK citizen from birth, see page 5 of her submission to the High Court. And actually, including former citizenships is consistent with other politicians articles, see Larissa Waters, Penny Wong, Eric Abetz, Matthew Canavan, Nigel Scullion, Bill Shorten, Tony Abbott and several more (of course, I was the one who made these edits, however worth nothing that nobody has objected to these edits). I am not engaging in political favouritism, as I have been consistent in maintaining the multiple citizenships on all politician articles, as long as the information and years are known. Please take any comments to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Australian_politics#Former_citizenships_in_politicians.27_infoboxes. Liguer (talk) 05:18, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Liguer: The document does not state that she was a citizen from birth, rather it says she was, albeit unaware of the fact, at the time of election in 2016. Please be aware that UK citizenship by descent can not be bestowed without a notification to the UK Home Office. It does however make it clear that the citizenship had been activated before the 2016 Federal Election, however exactly when can not be determined with this document.
I see from your edits to Fiona Nash there was some confusion with the page numbers (apologies), and we are now agreed on this (i.e. the document states she was indeed a citizen from birth, in point E of paragraph 22). By the way, citizenship by descent is in fact quite often acquired automatically at birth, and this includes the UK. The UK has citizens around the world that it does not even know about! Brett Sutton (doctor) moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Brett Sutton (doctor), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 16:34, 9 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nomadicghumakkad. I believe the subject is definitely notable. If you are questioning the subject's notability, here is a sample of news articles from large, mainstream Australian news outlets that feature the subject prominently: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. The article is a stub and the content that is there is appropriately referenced. It seems you are suggesting I need to add more citations to the article in order to establish notability, however this seems contrary to the guideline that "notability is based on the existence of suitable sources, not on the state of sourcing in an article" (WP:NEXIST). If you disagree with notability, wouldn't the correct procedure be to follow the steps in WP:FAILN, rather than moving the article out of mainspace? Liguer (talk) 10:57, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey Liguer , I wanted to drop a note to you right after draftifying but I missed it. Sorry for that. The subject definitely seems to be close to notable. But I didn't see how it was meeting any WP:Academic criteria. And hence, I thought it's best to put it in drafts, establish notability and bring back. Also, you can surely contest the draftification action and bring it back to mainspace. After that, I won't be able to draftify again and would have to WP:AFD it if I had more objecttions (which I feel I won't have since you will establish the notability). Thanks! Nomadicghumakkad (talk) 11:54, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the note Nomadicghumakkad. I've moved it back to mainspace based on my reasoning above. I have also taken the opportunity to add more referenced content to the article. Thanks for your work in patrolling new articles. Liguer (talk) 14:08, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
