Neal Asher photo
Hello Quite Unusual
I would like to restart up a discussion from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:QuiteUnusual/Archive_12 - Neal Asher Photo. In the previous thread you've mentioned that you need the author's permission sent to the email address sprecified. I've clicked on the image and can't see the email address (or instructions) that the author needs to send his permission to - please could you supply me with the email address?
Many thanks,
Louise LouisePanMac (talk) 11:02, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- For images to be hosted on Wikimedia Commons, they require the copyright holder to provide a specific release under a suitably free license (such as certain Creative Commons licenses or the GFDL), which allows anyone to use them for any purpose, including commercial usage and derivative works (subject to applicable laws). If this can be supplied, then the content may be hosted on Wikimedia Commons and then used on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, "permission to use on Wikipedia" is not adequate enough. There's more information here and a sample email for supplying the above can be found here. Once ready, the email is sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org QuiteUnusual TalkQu 11:39, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Araga Jnanendra tag removal
Manjeshpv (talk) 06:09, 1 February 2013 (UTC) See sources are reliable and remove tag
- Thank you. You can remove the tag yourself if you want. QuiteUnusual TalkQu 11:32, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Ben Rehder
So, instead of taking the two seconds to actually link to the references for the author, you just slapped a delete tag on it. Nice. So constructive. Really, what Wikipedia is all about. Attitudes like yours are so prevalent in the smug Wikipedia world and are why I have never given a dime to this very ambitious project so sadly marred by arrogance and elitism. Ensiform (talk) 00:49, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Your language towards me is offensive and unnecessary. You know nothing about my attitude and reasons behind tagging the article. If you knew the policy, and it only took 2 seconds, then I don't see why you wouldn't have done it yourself instead of expecting me to do it and then coming here for an uncivil rant. The policy is very clear - it is the editor's responsibility to provide the references. BLP Prod tags delay deletion for 10 days and are there to prompt editors into exactly what happened - providing proper references. My attitude at the time was exactly that - to notify you that the article you created might be deleted if you don't come back within 10 days and provide a reference. That is helpful and constructive. Where you get elitism from is beyond me. I'm not a member of any "elite group" or any club at all. Anyway, you still haven't added any references to the article so it appears it was more that a "2 second job" QuiteUnusual TalkQu 10:13, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Isn't everyone at Wikipedia an editor? Why wouldn't you say to yourself, "Hmm, maybe there's something to this article but it needs references... let me help this guy out and add a reference for him - if I can't find one, I'll put a delete tag on it - and then notify him that he should put more, and follow my example"? No, you have to be an elitist - yes elitist - member of those that are More Wikipedia Than Thou, cite guidelines instead of helping, propose it for deletion instead of helping, because it's just so much cooler to be smug about rules. Jesus. Nearly everyone on this site is a nasty little martinet who just lives for knocking down what other people are excited about. Ensiform (talk) 16:56, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- I really can't see what your point is. The policy on articles about living people is clear and there to protect Wikipedia from accusations of libel. You appear not to know that policy, so I provided a helpful message informing you about it. I know nothing about the subject of the article; you presumably do. Therefore you are better placed to add the references than me especially as you must have found them before writing the article. Content on Wikipedia has to be verifiable and backed up by reliable sources; not made up or based on your own memories. I also suggest you look in the mirror and reflect on your own behaviour before throwing around further accusations. Who would want to help you when you respond with a ranting series of insults to something you incorrectly interpreted as criticism. Not me. QuiteUnusualPublic (talk) 19:37, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
