Congratulations for your fantastic articles on the Middle Kingdom kingsǃ It is wonderful workǃ Just one pointː I would cite Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz. Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz. only once in the bibliography and then in the notes to the specific pages. The whole website is just one big book and the entries like page numbers. You do not put in a bibliography one book 20 times for each single page. best wishes Udimu (talk) 10:01, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- Udimu - Thanks, and also thanks for your helpful finds and additions. I have thought that it looks a bit silly to have a new entry for each page. I'm citing only the 'people' pages presently, so it should be easy to reduce it down to one cite. I'll use the loc parameter for that. Mr rnddude (talk) 10:19, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- No problem. This is an article i wanted to expand, now you did that and due to my bad English skills, your job is much better. I am not fully sure what literature you can access. - Udimu - Dein Englisch is besser als mein Deutsch. Ich geboren im Augsburg, aber ich gehen zum Australien wenn ich bin vier jahre alt. Meine familie ist keine deutsch so ich nicht lernen Deutsche von ihnen. I wanted to say 'had little opportunity to learn German', but I don't know the word for 'opportunity', so I'd have hat kleine ? zum lernen Deutsche. I don't mind copy-editing any additions you make. Regarding literature access... I live in the worst possible state of Australia for the topic area I edit. Whenever I need a source, that source is available in one or more of Macquarie University Library, University of Sydney UL, or Monash UL. I live about 900km from the first two, and 1500km from the third. I am fairly capable of getting hold of journal articles, but books are more difficult. I am aware of Tallet's book, available at Macquarie and Monash. I was not aware of Haney's work, but no library in Australia has a copy yet. GBooks has a preview of it though, will look into that. I'll get a hold of those [and other] sources eventually. Mr rnddude (talk) 11:03, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- You do not write in Germanǃ not need for you to be good in that language. I can add the Tallet references, but also only have the first edition of his book. I have access to jstor and many online publications... so if you need something that is online, just ask. best wishes Udimu (talk) 11:23, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Would you be interested...
Hey. It's been a while... Would you be interested in helping with this? ♦ Lingzhi.Random (talk) 04:55, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- Lingzhi.Random - Yes, I'll help. Hope you're well, Mr rnddude (talk) 06:26, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- THANKS! You're aces... yes, my family and I are all personally well, but... I am just... you know, not wholehearted about the whole WP thing. Maybe yes, maybe no. We'll see. But anyhow THANKS! ♦ Lingzhi.Random (talk) 08:14, 23 September 2021 (UTC)
- OK I got a free storage/sharing acct on MEGA. Apparently you need to get an acct too (a free one, I assume), and send me your username or something, so I can share the folder with you. You can email me if there's any info you don't want shared on WP... PS I sent you an invite via email to get an acct. ♦ Lingzhi.Random (talk) 02:57, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
- Lingzhi.Random - I've made an account, accepted your request and sent you a message to make sure you have me. Mr rnddude (talk) 06:24, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
- Cool! I shared a folder with you. There are, I think, over 300 files in it. Some of them have very self-explanatory files names, like Smith2006 or whatever. But many do not. A few of them are named by the title of the paper instead of author/year. A few are something like Cambridge-journal-Sen or whatever. And some are cryptic, like 247783 or whatever. I think some of the FIC reports are titled IARH-blah-blah-blah... If you can't find a file you need, just email me or leave a message on my talk page. I will try to hunt it down for you... There is only 1 problem. I am not clear about whether this free service only lasts for 1 month. I will try to verify that... THANKS! ♦ Lingzhi.Random (talk) 07:32, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Sobekneferu
On 4 October 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sobekneferu, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Sobekneferu (bust pictured) of Egypt's Twelfth Dynasty is the earliest undisputed female king to reign over ancient Egypt? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sobekneferu. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Sobekneferu), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I've come to apologize
Hey. I've come to apologize. I truly hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I've worked very hard on Talk:Bengal famine of 1943/Verify and Black Monday (1987) and Marshall Plan etc. Genuinely, I have tried very, very hard. But I have come to realize this project just has far too many dark memories for me. It just ain't a good thing in my life. Last time I quit, it was for a year and a half. I hope this one is forever. Sorry. ♦ Lingzhi.Random (talk) 12:30, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- Lingzhi.Random - Hold up, what's happened? Aside, you don't need to ask for my forgiveness. This is a volunteer project and you can work on it as much or as little as you please, and that includes not at all. I took a solid break throughout 2020 as well, largely from disillusionment with how the back-end of the project operates. I left that side and have had very limited edits in Wikispace [excluding Wikiprojects which are oriented towards Wikipedia's purpose to disseminate information] since then. Mr rnddude (talk) 16:08, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, I have already scrambled my password and disabled my email. I was very happy working on Black Monday, and am already missing/regretting, but cannot go on. Wish I could, but can't.ReplyToQuestion (talk) 12:11, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

On the Articles about pharaohs
I noticed that my edits were reverted. I also like to contribute to Ancient Egypt, but I am just wondering why you reverted my edits? Thank you! Jishiboka1 (talk) 09:13, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
- Jishiboka1 - I've only conducted a single revert at Amenemhat III. I removed your addition of a citation in the lede of an article as it was redundant to citations in the body of the same article. Typically, the lede will provide a summary of the material in the article body and thus usually does not require citations itself. In this particular case
[d]uring his reign, Egypt attained its cultural and economic zenith of the Middle Kingdom
is mentioned and cited to Grimal, Callender, and Clayton in the first sentence of the third paragraph of reign as[t]he Middle Kingdom reached its cultural and economic zenith under the direction of Amenemhat III
. There are still circumstances in which a cite may be required (typically a result of WP:BLP, but this is not applicable here). While there is no prohibition against or mandate requiring lede citations, the article in question was already consistent in omitting citations from the lede (the footnote excepted for other reasons). Comment
Hey I believe this comment is somewhat unfair to me, I realized I replied when I was upset then later on, I removed the rather rude parts of the response and apologized to Greg in my edit summary. I do however take responsibility for any of this, I broke my own rule by editing or (replying) to anyone when upset. I’m sorry. Celestina007 (talk) 12:22, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- Celestina007 - I had written a reply yesterday, but scrapped it as it was late. In brief, I was going to press on the fact that your comments to Greg (including the personalized bits) were live for all to see, but your apology was hidden away in an edit-summary. However, I notice today that you have struck your comments and left a public apology. Consequently I have left a note and a strike-through as well. Mr rnddude (talk) 05:55, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- Correct, and in this section on their TP, I also left a personal apology, my thinking is a good number of individuals here (myself included) make the error of reacting rather than attaining mental clarity prior responding, it’s really ironic that I (Preach against) that sort of editing but fall victim to it, hence the proverbial phrase “it is easier said than done” I think this is further elaborated in a sacred text wherein an individual by the name of 'Paul' expressly says “May I not Preach unto others and in the end, myself be a castaway” I try my best to be as collegial and mature as can be and I think everyone here does too as we all on this life long journey together. My apologies once again Mr rnddude, I’m certain we’d cross paths again under much better circumstances, do remain safe. Peace Profound. Celestina007 (talk) 16:10, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
Help submit a new article on Collaboration with Russia During Russo-Ukranian War
Hello, I am a new editor
Can I ask for your help editing and submitting this draft? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Collaboration_with_Russia_During_Russo-Ukranian_War
I believe timely publication can help nudge countries and companies away from collaborationism behaviour, hence the sense of urgency. — Preceding unsigned comment added by I0ving (talk • contribs) 14:45, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
- My involvement in this topic area is generally limited to handling basic edit requests. I don't handle draft articles or the creation of articles in the topic area. It's probably better to ask at one of the Wikiprojects. Mr rnddude (talk) 05:02, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
Talk:Pyramid of Sahure
While we might disagree on the semantics of the guidance at MOS:CAPS, your comments: "you're being disingenuous" and "You are not going to gaslight me" presume of me (IMO) "motives" in a pejorative way that are clearly contrary to WP:CIVILITY. You may consider redacting these comments. We may disagree but this does not mean that we cannot have a civil discussion on the subject. Cinderella157 (talk) 10:18, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
- I've made an effort to reply on the talk page of the article. I will only make one comment about this dispute here. You presented Ngrams to support your position. Ngrams which I noted were only consistent in being split for both positions. You then discredited the Ngrams as unrepresentative or potentially misrepresentative. That prompted the former comment. The latter stems from the fact that I've poured over these sources, and you're telling me that one form is wrong when I've read it in specific sources. Mr rnddude (talk) 13:02, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
- My comment here is not about who is right or wrong but that such discourse can and should be conducted civilly. Regardless of the justifications for why you might have made such comments, they could and should (IMO and in accordance with WP:P&G) have been expressed in a way that did not bring me to your TP to raise this issue. We can disagree but remain civil. Cinderella157 (talk) 13:36, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
Per my previous posts to your TP (archived here), discourse such as that at the talk page can and should be conducted civilly. It appears to me that you have failed to heed my concerns. An allegation: You have now twice claimed that I am lying about the content of sources ...
[1] is inherently uncivil unless it can be substantiated - and even then, it should not be made at an article TP. I agree that it would be uncivil conduct if it could be substantiated. Even as modified, silently changing this three hours latter to: You have now twice implied that I am lying
[2]) does not substantially alter the allegation. Pejorative language such as: you've stooped here to the level of ...
is intrinsically uncivil and WP:CIVIL warns against persoalising an "argument" but this is done consistently - one should argue the case and not the person. You might consider redacting parts of your comments to the extent that they might reasonably be considered inappropriate in respect to civility. Cinderella157 (talk) 09:31, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have now stated at the article that I will not engage you on this matter further. Your own evidence refutes your claim. Either you will accept this, or you will not. I genuinely do not know what interpretation to take from your comments regarding 'Step Pyramid' there. My best faith interpretation is that you treat anything I say with suspicion. I.e. you expect me to lie about a trivial matter. Mr rnddude (talk) 10:03, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
To text: "The google book search I provided above (this search) is looking for "Step Pyramid" in a context of "Djoser". It does show evidence of "Step Pyramid" being used as a stand-alone term in the capped form but it certainly does not appear to be done consistently. As I stated above, [it] strongly suggests that "Step Pyramid" is not a proper name in this context." It was a misedit. It is essentially covered in that that preceded. I am reverting this. However, if you object (by reverting) I will strike it through. As a courtesy I give you the option. Cinderella157 (talk) 11:07, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- I won't object. Mr rnddude (talk) 12:13, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
Pyramid of Sahure scheduled for TFA
This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 18 May 2022. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 18, 2022, or to make more comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/May 2022. I suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work. Gog the Mild (talk) 15:01, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
Thank you today for the article, introduced: "This pyramid's unimpressive physical proportions – roughly 1:30th the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza – and ruined state, deterred much exploration until the turn of the 20th century. When Borchardt finally pulled it out of the desert, however, he discovered a quite remarkable pyramid complex. Spread across its walls were an estimated 10,000m2 of masterfully crafted relief art. Special mention must be made of a scene of Sahure hunting for the brutality of its imagery. Unfortunately, the relief is fragmented. Of the section presented in the article, I'd draw your attention to the bottom left where a horned herbivore has an arrow impaling its forehead while a hyena, equally speared, leaps at its throat. The quality of the artwork was such that for two millennia, pharaohs returned to copy the artwork for their own constructions... and to steal limestone, there was a lot of stone-thieving."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:51, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks as always Gerda. FAC is exhausting enough, TFA adds all the same pressure but with sporadic vandalism to boot. Mr rnddude (talk) 13:05, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
