Reviving collaboration on WikiProject Cuba?
editCheck out this discussion on WikiProject Cuba, I'm trying to drum up some teamwork and collaboration to create an article on the Cuban Liberation Army. Despite the fact they won Cuban independence in the 1890s, they don't have their own article! If you, or anyone you know would be interested, reply on WikiProject Cuba. –NickDupree (talk) 04:13, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- I know very little español, but I recently wrote Juan Gualberto Gómez article for Wikipedia Inglés.
- I got mi nuvia (es Colombiana) aqui en Nueva York, Estados Unidos, to translate this for me.
- Hope you can help out! NickDupree (talk) 06:23, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
Starting 11
editHi. The simple reason I elect to neglect Varane from the Starting 11 section is because he is very clearly not a member of Real Madrid's starting 11. Aside from his one start, he has not played at all and is unlikely to play anytime soon. I just personally think listing him in the Starting 11 section on virtue of his solitary start would be misleading to readers of that section.
The listing criteria I've used in past season articles was, though arbitrary, either at least 1/2 the number of starts of the starter or at least 10 starts. This season's starting lineup hasn't been consistent match to match so far, which is why a number of players are listed in the "Notes", but Varane has rarely made the matchday substitutes' bench, let alone the starting 11. important updates at Messi's page
editthere is important discussion about messi's page at [footbal]
the discussion about :
1-adding back the assists which have been removed ( and i think its really important ) especially most notable players have it and even less known player than messi have this statistics which is important for any striker .(remember the debate about messi vs ronalod have lots about messi makes more assists than ronaldo )
2-adding back the youth and under -23 goals because they are different statistics from senior one and u cant merge them together . since fifa themself separate them differently .
3-about the table of messi goals and if its important info or just long statistics(useless one).
Thank you all . adnantalk 12 pm 16 october 2012 (UTC)
re: 2014–15 FC Barcelona season
editHi, I just saw your edit on my talkpage regarding assists at 2014–15 FC Barcelona season and that you want it included and I removed it. I thought I should reply here at your talkpage to explain myself and I will do so one step at the time.
First of all I tried explaining why in the edit summaries when remove the assists when I wrote emove assist WP:OR and no clear definition of it so also remove per footy consensus and As I said, completely unsourced and WP:OR (original research) and also consesus not to add since defition of assist varies from source to source, for example some say creating penalty is assist and some say it is not.. I think it is quite clear but I will try and explain further and answer your questions.
Lets respond to your edit at my talk:
- You said For the common wealth of the page the asists table must be included, it's a very important estatistic.. and I could not agree less. Why is assist a important statistic and why would that make page better? What often makes pages better it text and not just table of stats which is not what articles are for (and has beeen mentioned a lot at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football.
- You also said Instead of reverting my edit you should make an atempt to consense something whit me and my best reply to that is WP:BRD, you were bold (B) adding the assists, I reverted (R) with a valid reason and explanation and then it is up to you to open a discussion (D) to find what other users say and ask questions if you dont understand why. There is also a consensus at he football prject not to add these tables and I will come back to that later. Also I think I did remove assist in good faith, as I did not put any warning on anyone, I did not label it vandalism or something, I just explained why not to include it and then rtemoved it.
- Finally you wrote I thing we should propose some official source for the assists on the talk page, and those should be the officials web sites of the competition, for example for La Liga we may use: and there I have some understanding, but as I said there are no reliable good sources in this case as some sources say rebounds or creating a penalty counts as assist and some say it doesnt. It can even vary in the league itself on which person looks at match and gives out assist to players making official stats incorrect. What definition does La Liga use? This thought of official source was also said at the consensus I will provide below.
The assist case has been discussed at the talkpage of Wikipedia:WikiProject Football many times and there is consensus not to add assists. After the most recent discussion an editor who did not agree continued adding assist and he was even taken to WP:ANI were result was he should stop. I provide you with some links to read.
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 81#Assists
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 78#Assists in season article
I hope you understand and if you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask me. Or if you still want the assist you could try open new discussion at WT:FOOTY (remember to mention old consensus and article in question). QED237 (talk) 15:19, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:49, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
