This image is by far the biggest WP:NFCC#3 violator I have ever seen in Wikipedia. (Yes, I said the same thing about anther image yesterday; this one is even bigger.) Specifically:
- It shows Windows Live Messenger, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Paint, Apple Safari and numerous other non-free icons, all of which can be replaced by free software such as VLC media player or Audacity (audio editor).
- There is already File:VMware fusion windows 7 aero.png being displayed on the same article.

non-free image of an item that exists and is being, according to the image page, readied for distribution to Indian Villages. While there may at present be no free images, one could clearly be taken, and this image fails WP:NFCC#1 Peripitus (Talk) 09:58, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

It's a scan of a page from the school's student guide, so it would be a derivative work. Also, the utility of this to an encyclopaedia is in question. —SpacemanSpiff 14:17, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

No actual source to support that this is actually Pinedo. Peter Isotalo 15:11, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose This is a bad faith nomination, the proposer has made no attempt to discuss or ask how I know its Pinedo and it seems in retaliation for a revert of his edit [1]. Had he asked the original file from the scan of an old photo is labelled [2]. This is simply ridiculous and should be closed. WCMemail 15:46, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- This is a misunderstanding. See this comment and the previous discussion about the image itself. This is genuine concern about what to me is substandard image sourcing. This is from a blog entry. That's not a reliable source in my view. The original image obviously wasn't created by some blogger, so where does it come from?
- Peter Isotalo 16:21, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Peter, here you are the original page from where the pic was uploaded [3]. The image, published in Argentina in 1961 (thus largely in public domain here in Argentina and in the US) comes from the book Genealogía: Hombres de Mayo, edited by the Revista del Instituto Argentino de Ciencias Genealógicas, a magazine which deals with genealogical studies (btw I have a volume about the genealogy of the founders of Mar del Plata, my home town). In the original photo there is a caption which leaves little doubt: it reads Coronel Don José M. Pinedo, not to mention the passages from this book regarding Pinedo's bio. Regards.--Darius (talk) 17:21, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- I should add that Darius is the co-author of the article and he helped me out tremendously with sources. I cannot accept this was done in good faith, since you made no attempt to discuss this on the talk page first or to contact the original authors. And to top it all, its just been on the front page and the article had numerous editors check it before it was published. No this was petty and should be withdrawn given the additional information my co-author supplied. 18:36, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- See my diff above. Noted before any reverts, so put it down to unfortunate timing and just let it go. All's well that ends well, though.
- But I strongly recommend that you provide genuine image references. This was so vague it seemed outright (good faith) bogus to me. If the only source available is some random blog or webpage, it's obviously not reliable. If you actually know the original source, though, you're obliged to spell that out in the file info, not merely point to a Commons file without proper sourcing. And by "original", I mean the actual publication/book/article/etc., not the blogger who put up a scan of it.
- Peter Isotalo 21:53, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- You never took it to talk, don't see you withdrawing this yet. WCMemail 22:01, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- I believe I just did. I'm just not familiar with the archiving protocol.
- Peter Isotalo 22:09, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- Btw, why did you write "source unknown" in the file description if you knew what the source was?

- File:2006 NBA Finals.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Ajimmyboy90 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
There is no indication on this logo that it is specifically for the 2006 NBA Finals. This seems to be more like a generic NBA Finals logo, which in that case could be replaced by the free File:NBA Finals logo.png wordmark logo per WP:NFCCP rule #1. Zzyzx11 (talk) 16:01, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- It looks like this logo was indeed used for the 2006 Finals. - Eureka Lott 02:43, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
- Again, there is no indication that it was only used in 2006. There is no date specifically on there. In fact, from Sportslogos.net it looks like it was used as a generic template for logos during 2005 and 2006.[4] And again, my argument is that if it is a generic NBA Finals logo, it can easily be replaced by just the free File:NBA Finals logo.png wordmark logo. Or if you really want a specific 2006 logo, Sportslogos.net had one of those too.[5] Zzyzx11 (talk) 07:44, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
