Tool password reset

edit

Hello gang, trying to get back in. Had my tool account activated, was told I was accepted on the list, but I don't receive any password reset emails. What can I do? - FlightTime (open channel) 19:00, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

New registration turnaround time

edit

I registered to join ACC over a week ago (already signed the NDA) but haven't received any confirmation. What's the average turnaround time for new registrations to be activated? Taking Out The Trash (talk) 01:57, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

IPv6 blocks

edit

The guide doesn't seem to have any guidance on what to do in regards to IPv6 blocks. Specifically, it doesn't say what we should do in the event of a request saying that their IP is blocked but the data available to us is indicating that their IP is not blocked due to the fact that we can only see IPv4 blocks, not IPv6.

So what should we actually do in these cases? Personally, I've been treating these requests as if they're not blocked, since I believe CheckUsers can't see the IPv6 blocks either (correct me if I'm wrong here); is this the correct course of action? On a similar vein, what should we do in the cases where we do know the IPv6 address that is blocked (due to the requester giving it away in the comments), should we still defer to CU check or ignore it if the IPv4 is not blocked? ACC is inherently an IPv4-only tool, so there's currently no way for us to get the IPv6 address unless they willingly give it to us in a comment. If there's no apparent IPv6 address, then I normally assume there's nothing wrong because there's little that we can actually do.
If they give us the IPv6 address, we can do a little more and I normally run through the usual checks on the IPv6 address too. Since the comment field is entirely user-generated data, it's possible that someone is lying about their IPv6 address though, so I tend to take it with a bit of a grain of salt.
The ideal solution would be to enable IPv6, but I've been waiting on that one for many years now. stwalkerster (talk) 17:52, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
