How participants get Order of Merlin ?

edit

Has anyone got an Order of Merlin ? Is anything their like Chocolate Frog Card ? Pottereditor (talk) 15:33, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Did you read Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Harry Potter task force/Awards? DonIago (talk) 17:09, 21 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Pottereditor: In case you aren't familiar with the award system on wiki, awards are given out by any individual to another individual in recognition of their work on a particular area. Unfortunately, there is no rubric or marking scheme for "how much you improve will earn you an Order of Merlin award". To answer you the question, yes there are a few individuals who have been recognized by others and received Order of Merlin in various classes. There's instructions for how you can officially join the task force on the project page. Wikipedia talk pages are for discussing improvements to the related main pages though, or for generally discussing improvements to Wikipedia. You may want to review WP:NOTCHAT. Cheers! J.K.Rowling

edit

I have nominated J. K. Rowling for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" in regards to the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.9% of all FPs. 17:26, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Cho Chang

edit

I added the article (or rather, redirect) "Cho Chang" to Category:Redirects with possibilities, on the grounds that i think there is a decent chance that we will hav a dedicated WP article on her. (See Category:Harry Potter characters and Category:Harry Potter character redirects to lists.) Also, on the redirect "Cho Chang", i removed the DEFAULTSORT to "Chang, Cho"; on the grounds that it is never clear which name (Cho or Chang) is a given name and which is a surname (or ar they both given names?); this is an issue because the Chinese put their surname first. (See Chinese name.) Okay? Solomonfromfinland (talk) 02:47, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

It was pretty obvious that Chang was the surname. 136.152.209.85 (talk) 00:39, 27 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Beauxbatons

edit

Is AfD still a thing? Or has JKR just been 'cancelled' now and new editors can just blank articles per IDONTLIKEIT ? Andy Dingley (talk) 23:52, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have reverted Wafflewombat's conversion of Beauxbatons into a redirect with my edit summary of Reverting good faith edits: I did not see a WP:AFD discussion about this. Until then, WP:EDITCONSENSUS prevails. I also put this comment on User talk:Wafflewombat. Peaceray (talk) 04:38, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I made the decision after reading Wikipedia:MERGEINIT. It states: "If the need for a merge is obvious, editors can be bold and simply do it."
I read Wikipedia:MergeReason and felt there were several clear reasons to merge the page.
If you don't agree with my assessment that the page should be merged, that's totally okay. But Andy Dingley, please don't accuse me of making decisions based on "I don't like it" without first having a conversation with me. My decision was based on reading an information page, not on personal preferences.
Also, my understanding is that merging is different from deletion, and is preferable in most cases, which is why I merged instead of requesting a deletion discussion. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know. Wafflewombat (talk) 04:46, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Beauxbatons has been around since 2003, so WP:EDITCONSENSUS clearly applies. I am noting that WP:MERGEINIT states that Bold merges may be reverted, even though they are labor-intensive to complete, but this edit process and civil discussion produces better articles. [...] Articles that have been separate for a long time should usually be discussed first. The latter did not occur. Peaceray (talk) 05:09, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the explanation. Should I follow the instructions on this page for proposing a merge discussion? Wafflewombat (talk) 05:17, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, follow the instructions at WP:MERGEPROP. I would recommend pinging Wikisaurus, Andy Dingley, Qwerfjkl, & some of the other recent editors, and to post a {{See also}} message here. Peaceray (talk) 07:00, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
And by following the instructions at WP:MERGEPROP, I specifically mean doing Steps 1, 2, 3, & 4. Step 5 is dependent on the outcome of step 4. Peaceray (talk) 07:33, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
