Thank you
editJust wanted to say thank you for making the alphabetic TOC template. This is long overdue. Best regards ~ Peter1c (talk) 22:45, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
Reverts to Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey
editOn the Wikiquote page for Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, I have responded to your second edit as of 22:58, 12 April 2017 by inserting a period after each episode number is listed in parentheses at the end of each of the thirteen episode image's captions. I didn't have the periods after each parenthetical episode number because they are not complete sentences requiring a period. However, I don't really care if the periods are in there or not. Now that they are, I'm curious - did you insert a period at the end of the caption for the Crab Nebula image because the syntax required it, or simply as a grammatical or visual formatting preference?
Also, you asked on my talk page, "2 Captions is an error, did you intend that one of them was an alt?" In the caption syntax for the first image on the page (the Helix Nebula, or NGC 7293) and the second image (the Crab Nebula), I've eliminated the two extra pipe characters and two duplicate names ("|NGC 7293" and "| Crab Nebula"). Let me know if this failed to address the reasons for your edit as of 21:15, 12 April 2017 and your first edit as of 22:58, 12 April 2017.
Thank you for pointing out ways that this page can be improved. Sorry it took me a number of days to respond to your question.
Your e-mail
editI prefer talk pages to be fair, and I'd suggest checking it carefully, this was a rather temporary bodge fix. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:12, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
AWB access
editDo you want to request AWB access? --DannyS712 (talk) 11:33, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have a compatible browser, which was why I asking. Theregexp's for the search and replace fields should be obvious though based on my recent efforts. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:35, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- Perhaps use w:WP:JWB? DannyS712 (talk) 11:35, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- Generally, I think MASSIVE edits like this are best done by an existing AWB user or a bot, that can be clearly monitored. I'll puase until there's a solution. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:37, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
lint
editHi ShakespeareFan00: I see you around a lot cleaning lint, so was wondering if you would be interested in helping me recruit a new wikiquotian. If so, could you help User:Guy Macon on his user page - I have no idea what lint is, but maybe you can figure it out. Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 04:27, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
Thank you!
edit…for fixing formatting on pages! Ilovemydoodle (talk) 07:10, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Minor edit
editDon’t forget to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit), as you did on Wikiquote:Quote of the day/November 4, 2011. Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks!
Bot
editAre you a bot? Ilovemydoodle (talk) 10:13, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Nope. I just look for specific patterns. ShakespeareFan00 (talk)
- Wow! How do you edit so fast? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 11:42, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Patterns and experience develop into efficient workflows. I don't generally like certain types of automated correction bot, because of edge cases, and the need to manually check you aren't breaking more things at the same time. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:51, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Do you use additional tools/plugins? – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 11:52, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Also, interestingly, as you left this comment, I was also writing a comment at the same time that got rejected because yours went through first. Ilovemydoodle (talk) 11:55, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have used AWB on some wikis, but on Wikiquote it's all done by using Special:LintErrors and the title filter . ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 11:58, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- I’ve been working improving the formatting of some pages (e.g. Joe Biden). Ilovemydoodle (talk) 12:25, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Minor edit
editDon’t forget to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit), as you did on An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding. Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette (and vice versa). The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks! – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 17:03, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
Formatting
editPlease remember to keep consistent formatting and spacing, forgetting, as you did on May 8, leads to other editors having to do more work. Here's an example on how to format:Template:Move up
- Thanks for the heads up, I'm still trying to figure out what broke on the edits I made.. 22:24, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- This was my edit - https://en.wikiquote.org/w/index.php?title=May_8&oldid=2246462. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:25, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- You removed a space. – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 22:27, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- Can you provide a specfic highlighted example, I like to be sure I'm formatting to a consistent standard :) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:35, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- You changed ": ''And, oh!" to ":<p>''And, oh!", when it should've been ": <p>''And, oh!". – Ilovemydoodle (talk) 22:41, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Formatting
editPlease remember to keep consistent formatting and spacing, forgetting, as you did on Tucker Carlson, leads to other editors having to do more work. Here's an example on how to format (for further reading read Manual of style): Template:Move up
- This was the edit concerned - https://en.wikiquote.org/w/index.php?title=Tucker_Carlson&type=revision&diff=3109176&oldid=3108907, Concrete example of what was misformatted please. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:53, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
