Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘨𑘽𑘐𑘜𑘹 (raṃgaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀭𑀁𑀕𑀇 (raṃgaï). Compare Gujarati રંગવું (raṅgvũ), Hindustani رَنْگنَا / रंगना (raṅgnā), Sindhi رَڱَڻُ / रङणु, Punjabi ਰੰਗਣਾ (raṅgṇā) / رَنگݨا (rangṇā).
