Etymology 1
editBorrowed from Japanese はちみー (hachimī), a corrupted form of 蜂蜜 (hachimitsu). Popularized by a song sung by Tokai Teio from the Uma Musume Pretty Derby franchise in Episode 12, Season 2 of its anime series. Meaning spread from honey water to cute animals probably through Chinese TikTokers when they started calling animals by this word in order to sound cute in various videos.
