editFrom Late Latin Argimiri, genitive of the personal name Argimirus,[1] from a Suevic or Gothic personal name, from Proto-Germanic *Harjamēraz, from Proto-Germanic *harjaz (“army”) and *mēraz (“great; famous”).[2]
