Noun?
editThe word nuptial is not currently used as a noun to mean “a wedding” (only as an adjective), but the word nuptials (plural) is. I’m not sure on the etymology of the plural form (see Talk:nuptials#Etymology?) – it may have derived as a plural from the adjective, or been borrowed/derived directly from Latin (which also has a plural-only form in nūptiae (“wedding”)), or perhaps nuptial (singular) was once used as a noun, but now only the plural remains.
For now, I’ve deleted the Noun section – if any examples of it being used as a noun in the singular are found, please add the Noun section back, with citations, and mark as {{obsolete}} (since it’s no longer so used). Thanks!
