Dead Dick is Alive[edit source]
Bro! I made a lot of changes based on your feed back and others. Please have another look, you might reconsider now. Removed repetition, and toned down the "Dead Dick" mention (like changed "Dead Dick Game to read Dick Head Game). Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting. It's an anti-war statement. Much appreciated either way. Y/s--Funnybony 20:08, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

VFH[edit source]
I'm going to be completely honest with you, most of the featured content sucks. Not like it's awful, but it just isn't funny. Sure it all reads well and has hundreds of pictures pictures, but at the end of the day is that really how you get featured on a site that's supposed to be about satire and humor, it shouldn't be. Legolas11 20:24 August 27, 2009.
- I think you are approaching this from the wrong angle. What ever you want to write about is your own concern though obviously the aim should be to make it funny. On this site , as long as the article is complete , makes sense (or illogical sense perhaps) and is well thought out and written , it will stay on uncyclopedia. However to make the jump to a VFH , it will then need to appeal to other contributors to gain their votes . So this is why something Pee Review is so useful as it allows a writer to put something in the queue to see how other contributors can read it before launching it out as a VFH possibility. Feedback is important as it will often make you think about what you are attempting to say. So far in my own case, I haven't felt anything I have written is quite there yet and if I look at pieces I have done and still want to tinker with them , then that shows me they are on one level incomplete.
- Regarding the quality of articles going up for VFH and succeeding , that is up to those who contribute here. Besides writing your own work , join in the conversations about other articles as well. I personally find the arguments about VFH and VFD very interesting and always like to contribute - even when other contributors don't like what I write. However it a useful experience in my view so I will suggest 'hang around' and don't get too bothered about this VFH business. Just carry on writing and sharpening your skills there. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 06:16, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- My two cents. Matt and Trey, the guys who do South Park, created a show that was funny and had genuine appeal not because they sat down and said "Let's write a funny show" but because they kept trying to make each other laugh. Don't worry about VFH - if you make something funny it will be picked up and it will be voted for. And remember, humour is like beauty - eye of the beholder! Pup t 07:44, 28/08/2009

A miserable thanks[edit source]
As the French version of the musical says:
À la grande misère du peuple
Et à l'absence de la joie
Remplis ton cœur d'un vin très triste
Et à demain, ami désolé.
Nous voulons faire la guerre
Contre notre gouvernement
Pour illuminer notre terre
Malgré que probablement nous mourrons en faisant cela parce que nous ne pourrons jamais être heureux puisque cette intrigue se fixe sur la misère incessante qui vient de l'injustice sociale dont nous souffrons
These thank-you templates get harder to write every time, don't they? Really, it's quite a miserable predicament.

Hey Look! It's only filled with happy sand guys!! I swear to god, we're going to lose this war if Hitler keeps sending me on these ridiculous wild goose chases. We wasted a whole year running around Europe to look for the Spear of Destiny and all we found was a bunch of people who claimed to own it. We must have killed fifty people and all we have is a truck full of worthless, rusty spear heads and rotting wooden poles to show for it! Now it looks like we'll be spending 1942 finding out how many people have an Ark of the Covenant and collecting a pile of dusty, acacia wood furniture for the Fuhrer in the process. This is not why I became a Nazi. The bling with all the swastikas is nice but I look like Black Leather Jacket Dork when I'm standing here in this dark, musty craphole with the likes of Captain Doofus and Towel Head Priest Guy! |

A word from your new insect computer WotM[edit source]
for supporting my nomination for Writer of the Month.
I would like to take this opportunity to announce my shift away from writing. The reason is very simple.
As the intelligence of the average Internet user has exponentially decayed, Internet media in general has seen major paradigm shifts, from newsgroups to webcomics to lolcats. Clearly writing is dying, and Photoshop is taking its place. Visual puns such as the one at left are just as funny, and take massively less effort.
Get it? MacMania? A Macintosh wearing a Scottish kilt (because the username begins with "Mac") gone mad (and therefore transformed into a Dalek)? Oh, forget it, I'm sticking to writing.

Thanks for voting for on Sun Bee. You posted "For. Just about stays on the subject of the article though has a few close random encounters along the way." If you have the time, I'd be interested in knowing what parts you mean. I don't know if I'm allowed to edit a VFH-nommed article for more than a couple minor grammar fixes, but if this doesn't get featured I'd like to know how I can improve it. Thanks. - I voted for because it held together to the end. I wasn't sure about the Homo Sapiens/Neanderthal section as I felt the story was going on about them too much and diverting it . I have re-read it again since you posted this message and on reflection it wasn't so much random as deviation perhaps which isn't so bad. It is very easy to head off into different directions with an article (I have done it myself enough times) as there is always the temptation to throw in a lot of ideas . So to sum perhaps a bit more about the Sun Bee and less about early man should have been the main focus...--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 15:57, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments. I never conceived of Sun Bees apart from the effect they and wolves/dogs had on H. sapiens and H. neanderthalis. The article's actually based on a joke email I sent to a friend of mine who's an entomologist who saw the movie Bug with me (in that movie, cockroaches start fires with their rear antennae--that's the only thing I believe I used from that movie). Other than the completely imaginary bees, most of the article is based on actual history and scientific thought. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 01:40, October 12, 2009 (UTC)

Biggus Dickus[edit source]
I didn't change anything back; the original edits were mine and I completely screwed-up the timeline (which is supposed to correspond with Biggus Dickus the Monty Python character) because I forgot that Tiberius was emperor during Christ's life in Judea and somehow thought it was Nero (which, being an amateur historian of sorts is a bit of an embarrassing mistake). I've been meaning to re-write it for ages but I was too lazy and kept thinking it would be too difficult (in the event it wasn't because I was able to keep all the details and just change a few things, not completely rewrite it as I'd feared) --Zarbag 16:31, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

I don't get you sometimes, man![edit source]
So this is too scruffy for VFH and needs tidying up, but this and this are fine? My brow is lightly furrowed with puzzlement here! Don't get me wrong, this isn't me trying to get you to change or even reconsider your vote - you cast it, you're entitled to it, and I'm cool with it. I'm not here to argue the toss or cause drama. But I would like to know why you seem to think Lobster is scruffier than either of those other two articles, just for the sake of knowing, really! --UU - natter 11:10, Oct 22
- When I look at some of the stuff that gets the nod to go on VFH , I didn't think Cricket or the Al Pacino School of Shouting were too bad. I did suggest on the Pacino one that the the middle section dialogue should be cut but decided to go a vote for anyway. Cricket was also perhaps too long as well but it was a fair stab at a story and to make it comprehensible to non-cricket fans. So really I was wanting to encourage the contributors with those but may be less generous in future.
- The problem with the lobster article was the self reference asides to this website and the general 'look, I am talking to you dear reader/moron/etc' style which is a heavily overworked approach a lot of contributors resort to. I have done myself in the past so I now know how lame that really is now unless it can be taken to another level.
- Also as you and Matt Lobster are both experienced writers here , I thought the entire piece was indeed scruffy and a bit shoddy. There is a funny article in there - it is just covered in limpet ideas in my view right now. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 12:25, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
- Matt had nothing to do with it: Cajek and Gerry did. Just for the record. Oh, hang on - I mentioned that in the nom. And experience has nothing to do with anything - either an article is fit for the front page, or it isn't, doesn't matter how experienced the writers are. And if you're trying to tell me the Cricket article is more coherent and less scruffy than Lobster, then I say you are guilty of some heavy double standards - if Cricket and Al Pacino aren't too scruffy, then neither is Lobster. If your problem is with the more conversational tone of the article, well that's different - that's a personal issue and I totally respect your right to that opinion. But don't go using "scruffy" as a reason when you're voting in favour of scruffier articles! (Still not trying to get you to change your vote, just more puzzled than ever). Final protip: "shoddy" and "lame" aren't the friendliest of words to go using - I was asking a friendly question, and that's just put my nose right out of joint, hence this reply might come across as slightly peeved. --UU - natter 12:54, Oct 22
- But what does any of this me? Nothing obviously. So why am I even mentioning it? Cos I'm a dick. That's why. Romartus' votes have often confused me I must admit. Still virility is the spice of life. Was that variety. No it was the worms. Oh, a friend of mine claims that he has seen WORMS, like real garden worms standing up out the ground his garden. Like sticking up REALLY far out of the ground. When there was a full moon. He says he's seen it twice, and when he moves towards them they shoot back down under the ground. Loads of them. MrN 13:05, Oct 22
- And I'm guilty of double standards as well, because I just noticed I voted against an article calling it ugly. It is ugly, but I didn't need to put it like that. I must be stressed. I'm gonna go ban Cajek to calm down. The point of this? I just get confused when I see what I consider to be blatantly contradictory votes, TBH. My question would have been the same had I never edited the Lobster article in my life. I guess I just think about things too much. --UU - natter 13:16, Oct 22
- OK 'shoddy' and 'lame' are too strong . I am happy to withdraw those comments. As for double standards , I admitted in the earlier reply that I was perhaps being overgenerous with the Al Pacino and Cricket articles . Ideally, yes all articles should be voted on their merits - whether they are written by you , me, someone else or a today's noob. So I will stick with that in future. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 13:17, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

I posted this under your vote on VFD for Red Hot Chili Peppers, but wanted to put it here so you'd see it and it wouldn't get huffed right away like the article probably will. Hey boss. I read what you said on the above article's vote page and I have a slight objection. I do not want my work to be featured unless it actually gets featured on it's merit. I will vote whore in as much as I want people to read it and comment and vote for or against, but I will never suggest to anybody that they vote in any manner other than what they believe is the right vote for an article. And as for an article being steamrollered to FA - there was an article recently that I read and felt that it didn't have the right stuff to be a feature. I voted against, with a fairly detailed reasoning as to why, even though the vote count at that stage was 8 to 0. After I had voiced my issues with it a number of others voted the same way, and what looked by early signs to becoming an FA was eventually rejected, and the author has been given detailed reasoning as to why. Having said all that, if you want to leave it as abstain, that's your call, but I don't quite get what you meant by self-indulgent. Pup
- Also I fixed the code on the VFH. Somehow, the number 0 got deleted from the against count, which drove the template crazy. Those templates aren't much for brains. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 22:39, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
- I noticed the fix. Thanks for that. I should look at making a few of these templates a little more robust really. Pup
- Regards the Street Fighter article , it is one of those jokes that is like a self enclosed universe. E.G. Unless you have played the game - you are going to nearly miss all the jokes and as I read it , I realised I had no idea where the actual joke(s)/humour line was in the story. This seems to be ok as an article but to be a VFH , it has to project out for me at least to other casual readers who don't know this game . That was why I put the 'self indulgent' comment in. So I guess in the end I settled for a fatalistic abstain thinking this would march straight through to a nomination. Thanks anyway writing to me and asking about my vote . I always welcome feedback ! --RomArtus (talk). 13:49, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Alec Baldwin[edit source]
Okay, Christopher Lee removed. what else you want? --Matfen 11:44, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Matfen. That was only a suggestion. I haven't re-read it yet. Also I am not expecting that just because I don't think that Christopher Lee/clone angle worked , you would then take it out. The criticism I voice and others is to encourage the writer to look again at the piece and see if works or not. The Christopher Lee/clone story could work if you could have integrated into the main Baldwin article so it would make sense . So you could also say to me 'I disagree' and leave it in and see if other people like it or not. Saying all this , my own point was I liked it (As I did your Christian Bale article) and that I was only suggesting possible improvements - which you could consider, modify or reject...I will re-read it later and let you know on the page. --RomArtus (talk). 12:02, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
It's fine. To be honest, i was kind of unhappy with that section, laughwise, anyway. I'm just really paranoid about any negative votes after Christian Bale failed after 3 days, with only around 4-5 people having a chance to vote on it.--Matfen 12:09, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
- Well the voting on VFH can be weird. I have been here for nearly a year and I have yet to submit (or be submitted by someone else ) an article for VFH. I am quite glad of that as I am always going back to stuff I have written and then changing it. My main project is the one on the Roman emperors with User:Zarbag. So in other words Matfen - don't despair yet ! --RomArtus (talk). 12:49, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
sig[edit source]
Hey. Do you mind popping your sig into a template and changing your preferences to have your sig link up to your template? ({{subst:User:Romartus/sig}}) Makes a neater code is all. Pup
- I don't know how to do that. --RomArtus (talk). 15:12, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
- Just copy and paste your signature's code into a subpage (usually User:Romartus/sig), then put {{subst:User:Romartus/sig}} into the "signature" text field in Special:Preferences. Then click the check box for "custom signature." Then all you have to type is ~~~~ to sign your posts. • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} Wednesday, 22:03, Nov 11 2009

confused[edit source]
Hi Romartus, I'm just curious about your vote. You said it was more like an UnBook. Is that the main reason you voted against, or were their other fatal errors? I want to make my article the best it can be, so I'd love to hear any advice you have. Thanks! • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} Wednesday, 21:15, Nov
- It was more like My First Day Fishing than How to Fish and I thought the actual article needed a bit more editing as it seemed a bit loose to me. If it was an UnBook - the style would be ok. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:04, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
- Inclined to agree to be honest. It is more narrative than instructional, and is is also somewhat laissez faire. (Although I haven't read it since PLS to be fair, so it may have changed.) I'll vote on this tomorrow as well once I've re-read the article. (Still don't like the lumberjacks.) Pup
- So, er, hypothetically, if this were changed to an UnBook, you would, er, hypothetically of course, change your vote? • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} Thursday, 14:54, Nov
- I would. I'd remove the weak bit. Also, I told you from the very begining, it's an unbook not a howto. • FreddAin't Dedd • • • 14:59, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
- It's changed. So thar. • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} Thursday, 15:11, Nov 12 2009
- OK I'll have another look but I was concerned it seemed a bit loose and not defined enough for a VFH. In an article it is how you are good at editing that is important. Some jokes/ideas don't work after second or third reading. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 19:24, November 12, 2009 (UTC)

Carnies[edit source]
I understand where you're coming from, but you should leave comments like that on either my talkpage or on the article's Pee Review page, where I'm much more likely to actually see it--if I didn't check my watchlist just now, I'd have likely never known about your comment, because the talkpage for DU has been inactive for quite a while. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 03:05, November 18, 2009 (UTC)
- Apologies. I thought I had. It was a late night comment and I was trying to be constructive. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:44, November 18, 2009 (UTC)
UnBooks:Gone Fishing[edit source]
Just thought you'd want to know the name of HowTo:Fish, which is still up for VFH only as UnBooks:Gone Fishing, got changed on your suggestion (and mine and someone else's--ain't we clever?). King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 05:11, November 24, 2009 (UTC)
Kingdom of The Two Sicilies[edit source]
Well, if you have nice idea about correcting my article about Two Sicilies, go ahead. I like your intro so don't hesitate to edit. Sid can correct you after you correct me, and then it will be corrected twice. Maybe they say in Poland 6 cooks result in no meals but double correction should be just fine (if Sid still remembers about that article ;) Sir Ptok-BentonicznyPisz tutaj • KUN 21:38, November 24, 2009 (UTC)

Aye, I was thinking of that myself. The Kings/Rulers get a bit sparse before the 20th century, though; might be an idea to get some more articles written. [message from Zarbag]

Table formatting[edit source]
Be sure, when editing VFD, that you don't type over or erase those lines containing "|-" in the table. When the division for Comments stops being underneath and starts being a third column to the right, this is why. Cheers! Spıke ¬ 11:25 7-Dec-09
- Ok thanks Spike. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:36, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

Whigs[edit source]
Not saying this because you voted for me. I came across your Whigs page while seeking a photo (used Pirate Kyra on the United States Emperors page), and the article is really good. One of the best I've seen amidst the drivel of many of the pages on this site. Nice work. Aleister in Chains 14:04, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for checking out one of my articles. I attempt not to write drivel but I do find the experience of contributing , reading , voting etc very good to improve my own abilities as well. So don't give up hope ! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:56, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Peter Pan (VFD)[edit source]
Your comment that "it is still basically the Cliff Richard story" suggests that you didn't read my rewrite, which is not in place but is in User:SPIKE/Peter Pan. This keeps only 2 paragraphs of the Cliff Richard story, and only to do a non-Russian reversal and state that "Peter Pan is the Cliff Richard of fairy tales." Please reconsider. Spıke ¬ 13:11 15-Dec-09
- Ok that is better. I had followed the link. I still think that this article should be merged into one about Cliff Richard - and your piece can go in the Peter Pan slot.--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 13:14, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
