Your recent edits on José Yepez

Two things to clear up for you. First of all Jose Yepez has not played a game for the Mariners yet so I removed Category:Seattle Mariners players. In other sports like soccer, it probably wouldn't matter much, but as far as baseball is concerned, adding a team category on a page when a player hasn't played or isn't in the starting lineup violates WP:CRYSTAL. Also, regarding the minor league team categories, I reverted that edit too. It doesn't matter if those teams were not mentioned on his profile, he played for them you removing those categories were pointless. You understand what I'm saying, or you have any concerns or anything? – Michael (talk) 02:49, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

I'll answer this at Talk:José Yepez, where this conversation belongs. —Paul A (talk) 05:43, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

User:Trevj/Sandbox

That's fine. Thanks for the courteous edit summary. --Trevj (talk) 07:16, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Your continued contributions would be welcome - specifically, finding a source for "It has been suggested..." --Lexein (talk) 04:22, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Bump - the text about "it has been suggested that... testing... may be counterproductive..." which you wrote in 2004 was deleted a while back by another user as unsourced. Can you expand on that, or just tell me where you might have read that, in Talk:Test screening? It's interesting! --Lexein (talk) 10:52, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't really remember what I had in mind. It was a while ago. —Paul A (talk) 13:55, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh well, thanks for replying! --Lexein (talk) 18:44, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Dzeidman

Hi Paul A,

Because I have not contributed to Wikipedia before, I am not familiar with all the rules. I've been trying to wade through them but they are not clear to me? Can you suggest a way for me to proceed?

I included several links to more information in my last message on your talk page. I particularly recommend the Frequently Asked Questions for people/organizations who want to edit a Wikipedia article about someone/something they've been paid to promote. —Paul A (talk) 01:26, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Hercules is not "free software"

Please do not include Hercules in any "free software" category. We just had a discussion about this at the dispute resolution noticeboard. -- Jay Maynard (talk) 14:46, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

For the record, I did not add Hercules to any free software category. All I did was update Category:Open Source software, which is a redirect to Category:Free software, to point more directly. It was somebody else who added Category:Open Source software. —Paul A (talk) 15:46, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

EVTraxer

I am writing to you as one of the contributors of the article EVTraxer. Please see Talk:EVTraxer. The first part of the article sounds a bit like and advertorial. However, most of the article is a discussion of European vehicle approval. This part is quite well written, but it has undue weight.

The EVTraxer article needs to be sorted out. If there is no interest, then it should be nominated for deletion. Thank you. BsBsBs (talk) 21:18, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Dynavox

I spend some of today doing some work on the Dynavox website - looking back though the history is looks like one of the last people to do good referenced work on the article was you... [1], do you fancy coming back and giving a bit of imput? Failedwizard (talk) 16:49, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

You do me too much credit. What I did on the DynaVox article was good formatted work: all the references were already there, I just wikified them. I added nothing myself. The person who added the references was User:AACUser, in the very first iteration of the article. (Which appears to have been AACUser's first, last, and only contribution to Wikipedia, otherwise I'd suggest you make your request to him/her.) —Paul A (talk) 23:42, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Paul A, I am new to Wikipedia and was looking for some advice on my article. I am a freshman at Clemson university and this article is an assignment for my English class. I you have any suggestions with regards to style, grammar, or references please let me know. Thanks. Paul, thanks for the tip on default sorting. I guess muscle memory just forced me to think like a template. --Mike Cline (talk) 12:18, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

AG Weinberger

Hello Paul,

I am writing to you regarding a page deletion attempt of the title 'AG Weinberger'. I am AG Weinberger and I posted the text to Wikipedia. The text and information in question is my own creation and it could be found on every website what I control. This text has been created in 2008. I do not have any knowledge about how this text ended up at the jukeboxalive.com website. Jukeboxalive definitely do not have my permission to publish or use by any mean the texts I've created. Please consider this message in order to remove your copyright claim. Thank you. Best regards, AG Weinberger Bucharest, Romania — Preceding unsigned comment added by Agw65 (talkcontribs) 03:31, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

If you do own the copyright in the text, you need to follow Wikipedia's procedures for establishing that fact; I included information about those in the first message I left on your talk page, and I suggest you read it. Just leaving messages on talk pages won't get you anywhere. —Paul A (talk) 17:04, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Politeness

Paul A,

Please don't lecture others about the importance of politeness. It's one thing to make a point to someone (I welcome the feedback), and quite another to write condescendingly, repeating your point ad infinitum. Peetred (talk) 20:17, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Paul, as you are obviously an editor with lots of experience with categories, I wanted to ask for your advice relative to the WikiProject Bibliographies and related article categories. In the processes of identifying and tagging articles with the project banner, it was obvious to me that editors have, overtime, created an excessive number of essentially duplicative categories related to List of books on ... and Bibliographies of .... topics. This duplication results in fragmentation of entries as some articles entitled List of books on .... appear in Bibliography categories but not in List of categories and vice versa. That fragmentation results in users having to find and visit multiple categories to find all the articles that logically should be found in a single category. The bibliography project would like to eliminate that fragmentation to the greatest extent possible. I see two possible approaches to that effort. 1) We could allow complete duplication of List of books of ... and Bibliography of categories and ensure that all the appropriate articles were categorized in both. This would result in essentially having two categories with identical contents. 2) The second approach would be to identify the fragmentation and duplicate categories, eliminate one of them and recategorize articles as necessary into the remaining category. I much prefer the second approach to eliminate the fragmentation as approach #1 would eventually allow fragmentation to creep in as editors added new entries to one but not both of the duplicative categories.

If we proceeded with approach #2, and had fully identified where the fragmentation and duplication existed, what would be your advice on how to go about eliminating the duplicative categories? A onetime consolidated CfD or individual CfD on each category. Your thoughts are appreciated. --Mike Cline (talk) 11:04, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Spelling

re your edit summary "en wikipedia uses 'yogurt'" – you may not be aware, but that's not the case; Wikipedia does not have an 'approved' way of spelling yog(h)urt, colo(u)r etc.

There's a wide-ranging and increasingly lame debate on Talk:Yogurt, Talk:Strained yoghurt and for all I know other places too, if you want to participate. As either spelling is valid, it would seem sense to retain that used in the first version of the article. pablo 08:24, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

As a simple statement of present fact, Wikipedia uses yogurt as the title of the article and Category:Brand name yogurts as the title of the category. As long as that remains the case, consistency requires the use of 'yogurt' elsewhere on the page; it makes no sense to use one spelling in the links and another in the rest of the text. (You could, if you thought it worth the trouble, pipe every link as [[Yogurt|yoghurt]], but there's no way of piping a category.)
That's the general argument. Speaking specifically to the article in question, I note that, as demonstrated by the page image, the spelling used on the company's own products is ... "yogurt". — Paul A (talk) 13:09, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I know that the article title is now yogurt, and has been for a couple of days. I also note that the even more recent category move is also disputed. I also have seen the photograph of an Italian yogurt pot. Thankyou for sharing your opinion on how this word should be spelt. I just wanted to be sure you were aware of the history behind these recent changes. (A similar situation is at Orange (colour) - "en.wikipedia uses" Color.)  pablo 16:18, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Autobiography Roland Mösl

Goodday Paul,
you edited the article Roland_Mösl today. I want you to know that this article is an autobiography (pege.founder is Roland Mösl himself). I don't think that stub is of any relevance for the world; due to the fact that the guy uses wikipedia for self promotion I think this article should be deleted (but I don't know how to perform such a task).

Hi. In Kenya, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Kikuyu (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
