In regards to The Almaden Valley being refered to as "Almaden" or "The Den":

   You'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't refer to the area as "Almaden". I don't think anyone is contesting that. The contested bit is "The Den". I have referenced Urban Dictionary. I know under almost any other circumstances UD wouldn't qualify as a source, but in this case, where it's being determined whether or not a slang term is used, I think it's quite appropriate. Urban Dictionary is a dictionary of slang after all.
