You need to add this information to the article, it is not there. 65.95.13.213 (talk) 04:25, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

COI

[edit]

Also thx to the comment on my relationship with Bishop Paschang Catholic School. Please note that, when I started this article, I have stated clearly in the "Edit Summary" box that I am a graduate of this school, and currently serving as a manager, on a voluntary basis, of this school as well. This was also spelled out in my User page. In fact, one of the reasons I started on Wiki is to write about my school and about Bishop Paschang, a dedicated, diligent and hardworking American missionary in China, who has almost been totally forgotten. As I am a novice to Wiki, kindly pls help improve the article. Thank you.Emkfchan (talk) 11:55, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thx again to 65.95.13.213 for your editing.Emkfchan (talk) 15:52, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Thx to the pasting of “notability” template by web surfer 183.179.104.44. Here is my feedback:

This is a web page of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong in which basic information about a number of schools having Catholic background, including Bishop Paschang Catholic School, was displayed: http://www.catholic.org.hk/v2/cath_db/search.php?page=142&search= However, the sponsoring body of Bishop Paschang Catholic School is the Maryknoll Fathers rather than the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, and the school is not managed by the latter.

This is an obituary of Fr John Mcloughlin, who was founder and ex-Supervisor of Bishop Paschang Memorial School, posted by the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong http://archives.catholic.org.hk/In%20Memoriam/Clergy-Brother/J-McLoughlin.htm

This article from the Catholic Dictionary web site explains the why The Catholic Foreign Mission of America is called Maryknoll http://dictionary.editme.com/Maryknoll

This is a fact sheet on all schools within the Kwun Tong “district 46”: http://www.chsc.hk/primary/tc/print/school_KT.pdf (List of schools adopting Small Class Teaching in 2010)

This is produced by the Committee on Home School Cooperation (http://www.chsc.hk/primary/en/home.htm) which is an organization under the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Government. Please see also: http://www.chsc.hk/primary/en/schooldetail.asp?sch_id=211

This is a local web site about what to find in Hong Kong. Bishop Paschang School is also reported here: http://www.lifein.hk/Education/PrimarySchDet.aspx?id=180&name=Bishop%20Paschang%20Catholic%20School However, it is only available in Chinese, sorry for this.

The followings are web pages of the HKSAR government Education Bureau: http://www.edb.gov.hk/FileManager/EN/Content_4225/schools_sct_2010_eng.pdf (List of school participating Small Class Teaching in 2010)

http://www.edb.gov.hk/FileManager/EN/Content_7359/sub_pri_sch_1011.pdf (List of subsidized primary schools in 2010/11)

http://www.edb.gov.hk/FileManager/En/content_742/result00-e.pdf (Recommendation for primary school allocation indicating that Bishop Paschang Catholic School would be converted into a full day school in 2002)

This is the web site of Bishop Walsh Memorial School in Hong Kong. The composer and lyricist of their school song were named there. These were the same composer and lyricist who wrote the school song of Bishop Paschang Catholic School. http://info.bishopwalsh.edu.hk/home/am/index_frameset.htm Although Bishop Walsh Memorial School was founded by the Maryknoll Fathers in 1953, it has been turned over to the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and not managed by the Maryknoll Fathers anymore, so is independent of Bishop Paschang Catholic School.

There was also a report, on the schools still run by the Maryknoll Fathers in Hong Kong, by a local newspaper, Singtao, on 21 April 2011. There was quite a plethora of information about Bishop Paschang Catholic School there. Unluckily the newspaper is only in Chinese.

There is also a book published jointly by the Housing Department of the HKSAR government and the Anglican Church in Hong Kong regarding the history of the Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate, where the School was previously located: 回憶.情 在牛頭角下邨的共同歲月. 香港聖公會福利協會. 2009. ISBN 9789627967286 There is a chapter on this School in this book. Again, I am sorry that this book is only available in Chinese.

All the above literature was not published by Bishop Paschang Catholic School nor by the Maryknoll Fathers. I believe these can be considered as sufficient “reliable secondary sources”. Would very much appreciate if the Wiki administrators would consider if the general notability criteria are met. Thank you very much in advance.Emkfchan (talk) 05:13, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, please note that the anonymous web surfer 183.179.104.44 has pasted this “notability” template to several articles in English Wiki and Chinse Wiki almost at the same time (22 May 2011 about 14:00):

Roman Catholic Diocese of Jiangmen(posted on 23 May 2011 about 7:00)

zh:天主教江門教區

zh:瑪利諾外方傳教會 (A Chinese article about Maryknoll)

Adolph John Paschang

zh:柏增主教

zh:庇護十二學校’

Pls note that the first three articles above were not created by me, I only contributed a little bit of information to them recently. Thank you.Emkfchan (talk) 05:49, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For just one unexplained posting by IP user 183.179.109.44, the user who created this page with no delay submitted such a detail dissertation with supporting reliable secondary sources, what a sincere contributor! The notability guideline template should thus be removed. Anyone who wishes to add it or similar challenge back must support the move with a document of comparable length, quality, and sincerity.Poorteacherjacob (talk) 07:24, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the notability concern is unfounded as the subject has been discussed by multiple independent publications independent of the school, and support the notability tag's removal. Deryck C. 08:56, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone explain why this has {{Missouri-stub}} attached? Nothing in the article seems to say anything about having a Missouri connection. Even the Maryknoll mentions nothing about Missouri. 65.95.13.213 (talk) 09:46, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No it really shouldn't be there. The only connection is that the school is named after Bishop Paschang who is from Missouri. I've removed all the stub templates, since the article isn't a stub anymore. Deryck C. 10:08, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks to R'n'B for your help in improving this article.Emkfchan (talk) 14:36, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are a lot of red links throughout the article and I'm not sure if any of them are going to be made into pages or are important. Anyone have some knowledge on this? Cleanelephant (talk) 09:22, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
