Bonjour !
recent material deleted
[edit]The following bullet points were added at the bottom of the article, not integrated in the text. The bad placement and partisan language inspired somebody to delete it. I'm adding it to the Talk page, since it is new info. Somebody who is better informed on BANCO can improve it and maybe add it back into the article.
- BANCO spearheaded a successful recall election of a corrupt city commissioner last February.
- This was too much for those who are behind a land grab of riverfront property in Benton Harbor and other like interests. They organized for the election to be thrown out and for Rev. Pinkney, a BANCO board member who has been on the forefront of grassroots campaigns, to be falsely charged with voter fraud!
- Even before the trial has begun, Rev. Pinkney is already facing legal fees well over $30,000 and has not yet been able to find any pro bono legal help and may have to declare bankruptcy. Furthermore, because of the restrictions on legal aid, it now seems that he is ineligible for aid because it is a criminal case.
- Also, he is told he may also be disqualified from National Lawyers Guild help because his is considered to be an individual case, although clearly charges against Rev. Pinkney are an attempt to silence the grassroots of Benton Harbor, to dampen efforts to demand accountability of officials and to make the way for even further exploitation of the grassroots.
