[edit]Interesting that this is written by the same person who made such a fuss about the use of the word "cynologist" at cynology.
There is no such thing as "dog type". This is a purely made up construction. "Dog" and "type" combined for convenience, and this author's synthesis of ideas. This is a paper. It's not so much that it is incorrect as it is written, but there is no established thing called "dog type". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.164.14.138 (talk) 10:50, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, Wikipedia already has a List of Dog Breeds and an explanatory Dog Breed article; along with the List of Dog Types this is an explanatory Dog Type article. The term dog type is much used in dog books and articles to refer to a recognizable form of dog that either predates modern breeds or is not (yet) recognized as a modern dog breed. That's all.--Hafwyn (talk) 13:50, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]{{Merge}} this with List of dog types, and lose the assertion that a dog type such as collie is not a lineage. Chrisrus (talk) 07:02, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- I left a message at user talk:Hafwyn#Merge proposal, to alert the creator of these two articles in case they want to weigh in. Your proposal may have merit, as there is a #List section in dog breeds, added by a "drive-by" IP editor on 28 May 2012 (diff). – Wbm1058 (talk) 14:06, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]Hello, this page should be merged with the List of dog types page as recommended, as they both address the same topic. The proposal appears to have gone nowhere. I intend to wait until 31JAN15 for responses from any interested parties before copying and pasting the List of dog types here, then proposing to a Veteran Editor for adjudication/removal of List of dog types page. Please let me have your thoughts by then. William Harris (talk) 22:56, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hello all, as promised, I have exported the content of the List of dog types page and placed it on this page - feel free to amend and edit. I have put in place a redirect from the List of dog types page to here. Regards, William Harris • talk • 09:13, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Sport
[edit]The article calls dog showing a sport. How does this could as a sport? Jimp 06:11, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
