Governador Island → Ilha do Governador – per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English), there is no established English usage for this place. In any case, the name has been partially and incorrectly translated (it should be either Governor's Island or Governors Island). Hack (talk) 04:25, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose – No reason to introduce unpronounceable foreign obfuscations. The present title is more natural to an anglophone ear. RGloucester — ☎ 06:41, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- Brazilian "towns" are specifically mentioned in the guideline. Hack (talk) 07:11, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose using Portuguese instead of English for generic terms describing what the topic is on English Wikipedia. It is not partially translated, it is simply idiosyncratic English to use some native language term attached to English words for the generic object type. They can even sometimes include the native language object type attached to the English language object type -- 67.70.32.190 (talk) 15:37, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose current proposal: if under Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) it should be "Governors Island", then let's propose we move it to that title. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 04:46, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- Under that guideline, it should be the Portuguese name as there is no established English usage. Hack (talk) 05:16, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
