2 sets of Great Lakes
[edit]Shouldn't this page be the main destination of typing "Great Lakes"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.7.130.139 (talk) 20:31, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

– There is no WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "Great Lakes". The African Great Lakes are at least equally significant, and in aggregate contain more fresh water than their North American counterparts. Vpab15 (talk) 16:14, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Inclined to oppose, because the proposal makes no case for its claim on primary, and amount of water, even were it the case, would seem to have nothing to do with it. Alanscottwalker (talk) 17:40, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose, "Great Lakes" is almost exclusively used to refer to the American ones, and there's no precedent for calling the U.S. ones the "Great Lakes of North America".

- The article about the lakes in North America says they are also called that. I'm inclined not to believe it and don't see an obvious source for it anywhere. Having said that, I have heard "North American Great Lakes" now and again in my life. Maybe it's all just regionalisms? 122141510 (talk) 02:28, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. I checked pageview statistics (and massviews for other links on the disambiguation page) and Google Books. SilverLocust 💬 20:15, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- The results of Google books show that the North American lakes are primary in North America only. If North American publishers are excluded that is not the case. I don't know how to exclude North American books, but checking BBC webpage the results are more even ([1]). Vpab15 (talk) 22:50, 26 July 2024 (UTC)
- Strong oppose. The North American lakes are the primary topic. O.N.R. (talk) 03:12, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

- Oppose. Very clear primary topic even for those not from North America. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:48, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. North American lakes are obviously the main subject. Changing the title would just cause confusion. Waqar💬 17:28, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
