Image:Metrologo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Hobart City Interchange designation

Addressing a move by User:SilverLocust which reverted this article's title to the Hobart Bus Mall, I would like to discuss reinstating the bus interchange's contemporary designation. It is called the Hobart City Interchange by State Government departments such as Transport Tasmania, the Department of State Growth and most importantly, by its operator, Metro Tasmania, where it is referred to as the Hobart City Interchange across all current Metro Tasmania resources, including interchange maps, route maps, and the Metro Tas phone app. Although I have come across some variations of this namesake, such as the Hobart Interchange or in lower-case as the Hobart city interchange, the last time it was called the "Bus Mall" by Metro Tasmania was in 2015 when they were discussing the upcoming upgrades. This is surely enough evidence to acknowledge that the "Hobart Bus Mall" is a former namesake. As noted by User:SilverLocust, "Bus Mall" is still commonly used by media outlets when referring to the interchange, therefore the previous name should be acknowledged in the article as a former namesake and as a colloquialism. However, retaining the former name for the article is incorrect and confusing for commuters and tourists, who will only know the interchange by what is called on the information they are given in the form of contemporary time tables, route maps and the Metro Tasmania phone app, all of which refer to it as the Hobart City Interchange. The relevant policy is WP:NAMECHANGES, when reliable sources written after the change routinely use the new name, Wikipedia should follow suit and change relevant titles to match. As previously mentioned, Metro has not called the interchange the Bus Mall since 2015. Metro Tasmania and its owner, the State Government are reliable resources. Further to this, since the redevelopment, it is standard when discussing public transport services that institutions refer to it as the Hobart City Interchange, such as the Derwent Valley Link did here, Elizabeth College did here, Blundstone Arena did here, or Wrest Point Casino did here. It is listed as the Hobart City Interchange on directories such as Yellow and Moovit. There are some variants of the contemporary name found in the media, but there are also examples such as this article from the Herald Sun that use the contemporary name. Fine, we'll go with WP:NAMECHANGES: we give extra weight to independent, reliable English-language sources ("reliable sources") written after the name change. The thing is, Metro Tasmania is not an independent source. I see three different news sources that use "Hobart Bus Mall" in 2023, and zero that use "Hobart City Interchange". I wouldn't call Pulse a reliable resource, it's more like a trashy online tabloid akin to the Daily Telegraph. How many actual news sources referring to it as the "Hobart City Interchange" would it take to tip the balance? 4? I guess time will tell. CineBrick315 (talk) 04:59, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
