[edit]Jeff Somers is an american author published internationally by a mainstream publishing house. There are a number of authors listed in wikipedia who are of equal stature. Jimmydare (talk) 18:18, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
I'd encourage anyone seeking to delete this page to explain why Jeff Somers is less notable than, say: Jay Lake, Edwin Balmer or Debra Doyle -- to pick just three SF authors with pages on wikipedia who appear to have fewer novels published than Jeff, and with no offense intended to those authors at all. (206.34.120.2 (talk) 13:48, 5 August 2009 (UTC)).
- My concern is that Mr Somers may not meet WP:AUTHOR, which is our guidelines for notability of authors or other creative people. The sources given are his publishing company (which establishes that he is indeed A author), and then several sources that are likely controlled by him or by his publisher (which makes them not reliable except as possibly supporting information from an independent source). Take a look at the WP:AUTHOR guidelines and see if you can address those concerns with independent sources. If you'd like, I can remove the CSD notice for now. - Thanks for the clarification - I'll add a section on :"significant critical attention" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.34.120.2 (talk) 13:51, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- (after edit conflict) And to the IP, I respond WP:WHYNOT. Though those are guidelines related to organizations, the rule still applies that just because other articles have managed to get through that may also be deletable doesn't mean that opens the door for any other non notable subject. If you feel that those authors are not significant enough to warrant inclusion, please consider proposing deletion either through WP:PROD or WP:AFD. Syrthiss (talk) 13:54, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
