Birth name and date

FreeBMD shows only three Whaite births in 1989: Hannah Louise in York and Robert David in Pontypridd, but also "Oliver Samuel" in Preston and South Ribble, mother's name Croston: [1]. No registration quarters are given for coverage, but for 1989 as a whole it's 99%. So this looks like a probable candidate. Perhaps John is a nickname or an assumed name? John said on an appearance on Steph's Packed Lunch last year that his real last name was Cunningham, but he changed it to Whaite, which was his mother's maiden name. That search checks out on FreeBMD. Pelothong (talk) 03:02, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it does here: CUNNINGHAM, JOHN ROBERT, mmn WHAITE, CHORLEY for 1989 and it has a postem which confirms his identity. Not sure why this source is not good enough to support addition of his birthname (and his existing middle name). Is that episode of Steph's Packed Lunch available online anywhere? Many thanks. that episode was 2 years ago so it's probably lost media by now. here is an article that does reference the episode though.

Wigan

Note: Whaite's base is at Tunley Hall, Tunley Lane, Wrightington. He says there, at his website: "Wigan North Western railway station is the nearest train station, about 15 minutes away by taxi."
