Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on November 13, 2008.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that with his appointment to Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in 1966, Robert C. Weaver became the first African American to hold a U.S. Cabinet Secretaryship?
Current status: Featured list

Right now, this article doesn't seem that notable by itself; just a basic miniscule list. I think expanding it with a main list of black Secretaries might be a good idea. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:18, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will start creating that article. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 21:40, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can help.—Chris! ct 00:11, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
One problem I ran into while looking over a list of black secretaries is that all but like three are already mentioned on this page. I am unsure of how we should set it up, because most cabinet positions would have either 0, 1, or 2 people. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 00:41, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think we can just follow the format used on List of female United States Cabinet Secretaries. It seems to work very well.—Chris! ct 01:19, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Louis Wade Sullivan

[edit]

Louis Wade Sullivan served as the Secretary of Health and Human Services during the elder George Bush's administration (1989-1993). Can someone please add him to the chart?

July, 2013 Update Request

[edit]

This article needs to be updated to reflect the confirmation of Anthony Foxx as Secretary of Transportation. I attempted to do it myself, but the "edit preview" indicated that I would have messed up the wiki-table formatting. --TommyBoy (talk) 22:13, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, the article has been updated. --TommyBoy (talk) 01:06, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

February, 2014 Update Request

[edit]

This article needs to be updated to reflect the confirmation of Jeh Johnson as Secretary of Homeland Security. I attempted to do it myself, but the "edit preview" indicated that I would have messed up the wiki-table formatting. --TommyBoy (talk) 15:46, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Added Jeh Johnson.--Mitchumch (talk) 20:55, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:African-American gospel which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 23:19, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hyphen?

[edit]

I'm not sure what the wikipedia manual of style currently has to say about "African-American" v. "African American". Article is currently inconsistent. If anyone can point me to this, I'd appreciate it! CAVincent (talk) 07:48, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
