Statesman?

[edit]

The first paragraph says Gates is a "statesman." Isn't that a matter of opinion? Some say Hitler was a statesman. I don't think he was. But some think he was. It's opinion.BillVol (talk) 03:05, 18 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I question the neutrality of the section on his time as head of CIA, as well as the nomination process. The only information given are some very harsh comments made about him in his confirmation hearings, none the less he was confirmed. Presumably lots of good things were said about him too, but those are not included.

Then the ENTIRE section on his time as Diretor of the CIA (nearly two years) is ONLY about what he did or did not know about Iran Contra. This seems like a personal obsession of one or more editors, to make this the only information about his whole time in the office.

Gates is a living person, I'm not convinced that this extremely biased and obsessive focus on unproven allegations about his involvement in a scandal that took place before his time as DCI should comprise the entire encyclopedia section on his time in that role. In fact I am concerned it violates Wikipedia standard for Biography of Living Persons. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.76.12 (talk) 00:19, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Charlie Rose in his interview with Bob Gates, while Gates was pushing Tillerson for Sec of State mentioned Bob Gates was part of a Strategic Consulting Company of Rice , Hadley and Gates. I believe Charlie said something about the firm Rice, Hadley and Gates had been hired to push Tillerson. Bob looked not too happy with that disclosure. I think he is a great American but am wondering how much was being paid for sticking up for Tillerson. This my first post to Wiki. BillybobTx (talk) 15:22, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
