Seymens have nothing to do with janisaries. Seymen tradition is actually older than janissary army. Seymen is originally a rank in Anatolian Seljuk Army and later became some kind of irregual militia of the Central Anatolian Turks. Young men from that region used to come together as Seymen groups, learn how to fight and dress in special seymen uniforms. It was something between a semi-militaristic orders and social clubs for young men. Seymen units fought as guerilla in Turkish İndependence War and later that tradition continued with "Ankara Seymen Club". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.234.191.233 (talk) 02:51, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
