Pinging User:Favre1fan93, User talk:Adamstom.97 and User:TriiipleThreat: according to Just Jared, filming has begin on The Punisher and has photos. ScreenRant is also reporting on this. - Richiekim (talk) 00:41, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On it. Will work on getting the draft moved. This was... unexpected, to say the least. Thanks for the find and being on top of it Richiekim. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:40, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just hope it isn't a Doctor Strange situation where those leaked photos of Cumberbatch in Nepal bordered on WP:FRUIT, and were therefore inadmissible as evidence to confirm the film's shooting. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:11, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well NYCC announced a couple weeks ago that Bernthal's appearance there would be altered "Due to his Netflix production schedule". At the time, people speculated it could be for Iron Fist or the Defenders (or even AoS), but with the set photo take, it seems legitimate (and usable). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:24, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And FWIW, it appears ComingSoon.net is independently confirming the start of filming, with different photos from the set (which were taking by a Getty Images photographer). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 05:19, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Working title

[edit]

It was I who added that info, but hid it until a better source than comicbook.com could be found. For long I thought, and still do, that the site cannot be used for anything other than exclusive interviews. And this didn't look like one of them. Kailash29792 (talk) 18:05, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Comicbook.com is reputable. Nothing wrong with using them for sourcing, unless like any other source, they are reporting on rumors or are WP:FRUIT. But this is them independently reporting. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:13, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

As an FYI, Entertainment Weekly published what looks to be a new logo for this series. It can be seen on the "Nerd Map" found here. - DinoSlider (talk) 21:36, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, some of the images they have for Phase 3 don't appear to be official. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:50, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It could be. But it's also insanely small, so it wouldn't be much benefit for us yet, if it is indeed official. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:49, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is much larger in the video. But I'm guessing that doesn't help. - DinoSlider (talk) 01:40, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. I didn't initially watch the video. It still isn't the best thought. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 06:26, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Just casually passing through this conversation... This is a larger version of the logo; however, upon doing a reverse Google Image search, this logo appears to be from the posters for Punisher: War Zone, and hence, would not be for this particular series. Alex|The|Whovian? 06:38, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed it does appear to be that. Thanks for researching Alex! - Favre1fan93 (talk) 07:42, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Spin-Off

[edit]

Not that important, but what makes Punisher a spin-off while Luke Cage is not one? Punisher debuted in another Netflix series just like Cage. 161.185.151.51 (talk) 18:23, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Luke Cage was always planned to have his own series. They had greenlit his series at the beginning, alongside DD, JJ, IF, and the Defenders. They just introduced him earlier in Jessica Jones. In contrast, the Punisher show was greenlit after Daredevil season 2. --Bold Clone 18:40, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This does highlight an interesting question, though. In traditional broadcast or cable TV, a spin-off was typically something that began with a backdoor pilot. In the streaming era, it might just be a related show, like LC or Punisher. -RM (talk) 19:37, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think we can only call something a spin-off if it was actually spun-off from something. So related series will not necessarily be spin-offs. We always new that Luke Cage was happening, so it wasn't spun-off from Jessica Jones. But we know that this series was developed from Daredevil season 2 after people liked the character in that show, and we have been told that it is a spin-off, so that is the difference. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:42, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
adam is correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.231.203.231 (talk) 22:15, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this new "newspaper" logo turns out to be the actual logo/title card, a version can be taken from here (the series' official Facebook page). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:04, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Season poster

[edit]

Should we be lucky to get to this point, season poster here via here. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:04, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Or this one. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 20:02, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

All the posters you selected has November blurred out. Use the one with November written on it. Vaajkapoor (talk) 08:02, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Analysis

[edit]

This is a good article that could be the start of an analysis section, or could fit in with the release/marketing info that we currently have. - adamstom97 (talk) 19:55, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is another good one. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 04:48, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As the author of the Sonya Saraiya addition, I think it's important to include it - it's one of the rare pre-embargo date views into the quality of the show; and it's also fascinating early analysis. It also is 'Reception', if not review. Can we put it back on the page somewhere - it seems stupid to have taken it off, irrespective of whether it is an official 'review' or not - Saraiya, a very important tv critic, is saying ultimately the show is good, even important. Indeed, as I had quoted in the text: 'I ask this as someone who enjoyed “The Punisher” much more than I expected to. The show (which will be reviewed in full at a later date) is a remarkable expression of frustration with America’s doublespeak around the military — a doublespeak that upholds patriotism at all costs, while demeaning the people who serve in the name of national defense. And though I have found “The Punisher” engages with its subject matter in a smart and compassionate way, there is no denying the fact that the lead character Frank Castle, played by Bernthal, is the quintessential (and heavily armed) lone wolf, a gun-toting vigilante who has no qualms about taking lives. It is a brutal show, and guns feature heavily in not just the scenes of violence but in the iconography of the Punisher himself.' this is surely a very important addition to the page, especially since after Saraiya's publciaiton of that column very few critics who had seen the preview episodes had commented on why the series is good and important.... --KiichiGotoh (talk) 14:54, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dirty Laundry

[edit]

Yes he watched Dirty Laundry. Yes He liked it. That does not equal "particularly inspired". Claim makes a personal interpretation of the source that is not directly supported by the article. original research. duffbeerforme (talk) 13:16, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

First sentence of the source: Thomas Jane's portrayal of the Punisher helped inspire Jon Bernthal's take on the anti-hero. Claim directly supported by source. Not original research. -- AlexTW 13:23, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Jane portrayed the Punisher in The Punisher (2004 film), not just Dirty. OR. duffbeerforme (talk) 13:55, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
He portrayed the Punisher in both, but the article only talks about Dirty Laundry. It is sufficient as a source. -- AlexTW 22:23, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What did he actually say. “I watch everything. I read everything. Anything you can get your hands on. I love Dirty Laundry. You see that one? Once you devour and eat up and much as you can, my way is to make it as personal as possible. It was a great pleasure to watch all of those.” That's it? duffbeerforme (talk) 04:11, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any reason why this series doesn't have a character list like the other TV series?

[edit]

The other series seem to have them. How come this one doesn't? — Preceding unsigned comment added by *Treker (talkcontribs)

@*Treker: 1) Please sign your posts. 2) What do you call this, then? -- AlexTW 02:08, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AlexTheWhovian: Sorry it was a mistake since I was a bit stressed. And that's not a separate list, like the other Netflix TV series has.★Trekker (talk) 02:12, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean something like List of The Punisher (TV series) characters? This particular series has had only one season so far, and thus a separate article is not required; The Defenders (miniseries) doesn't have a separate character list either for the same reason. -- AlexTW 02:19, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah exactly. As for there only being one season, I'm pretty sure Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist had separate lists before their second season's were even confirmed.★Trekker (talk) 02:42, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It was just never made. But also, we didn't really have that much to justify a split at the time season 1 came out and the series was renewed. Once can probably be created with the release of season 2. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:54, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That seems ok.★Trekker (talk) 19:59, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

BMI Film & TV Awards

[edit]

The series also won a BMI TV Award in 2020, as indicated on two sources, here on Variety, and here on the official website. 129.194.0.220 (talk) 23:04, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thanks, also added Golden Trailer for season 2, and rearranged to avoid repetition of tables Indagate (talk) 11:44, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.
Just one thing, you put "nominated" instead of "won" for that award, I will just correct it if that is okay, because the sources state it did receive an award. 129.194.0.226 (talk) 13:39, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
