Priory/nunnery
[edit]"The priory was built on the grounds of a medieval nunnery".
I have no idea what that can mean. As far as I can see, it's reasonable to call it a convent or nunnery, although the residents were not strictly nuns but conventual canonesses. But there's only been one of them, and it was dissolved in the 16th century.
I'll add a bit of background from the VCH Salop annd hope it clarifies things.Sjwells53 (talk) 12:57, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- More than five years on, I've given the article a revamp. I will improve coverage of the buildings a little, going back for a tour to make sure I see things claerly and buying the latest edition of the guide book. Then I'll remove the start class flag so that it can be reassessed in its revised form by someone less partial. Sjwells53 (talk) 11:49, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
