This is the template sandbox page for Template:ACMajority (diff). See also the companion subpage for test cases. |
"Absolute majority": the number of votes to support or accept is greater than 50% of the total number of arbitrators, not including any arbitrators who are recused, abstaining, or inactive.
Usage
[edit]For motions, use the template as follows:
{{ACMajority|active = # |recused = # |abstain = # |motion = yes}}
Otherwise, use:
{{ACMajority|active = # |recused = # |abstain = # }}
|active=
is the number of arbitrators active on the matter. For motions and similar, this is usually taken from Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Members, except if the arbitrator explicitly indicates (in)activity for a vote or actually votes, and defaults to 15. For open cases, this is taken from the list of active and inactive arbitrators on the Proposed Decision talk page. Note: the number of inactive arbitrators is not included in this template, as the active count is sufficient for the purposes of this template.
|recused=
is the number of arbitrators who have recused.
|abstain=
is the number of arbitrators who have abstained from the vote. This value will be included in the statement for motion (not proposed decision) votes where the abstention table is hidden.
For use on motions, include an additional parameter of |motion=yes
which replaces "this case" with "the purposes of this (or these) motion(s)" and hides the abstentions table. Use |motion=plural
if using in a section with multiple motions, to display "this (or these) motion(s)" instead of "this motion".
|hidetable=yes
can be used to hide the table whilst not using the 'for the purpose of this motion' variant of the text.
Examples
[edit]{{ACMajority|active = 13 |abstain = 1 |recused = 2 | motion=yes}}
gives:
- For this motion there are 13 active arbitrators, not counting 2 recused. With 1 arbitrator abstaining, 7 support or oppose votes are a majority.
{{ACMajority|active = 13 |abstain = 1 |recused = 2 }}
gives:
For this case there are 13 active arbitrators, not counting 2 recused. 7 support or oppose votes are a majority.
