Brownie (folklore)
[edit]- ... that brownies, helpful household spirits from British folklore, are said to leave forever if offered a gift of clothing? Source: "If the family the brownie works for gives him a gift of clothing, he will leave forever and refuse to work for the family."
- ALT1:... that, in one Berwickshire folktale, when a person criticized a brownie's stacking of grain, he hurled it all off a cliff two miles away? Source: "The brownie at Cranshaws in Berwickshire is said to have mown and thrashed the grain for years.[22] Then someone commented that the grain had been poorly mown and stacked,[22] so, that night, the brownie carried all the grain to Raven Crag two miles away and hurled it off the cliff..."

Overall: Good Article, well sourced, interesting HouseOfChange (talk) 15:27, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
- HouseOfChange, if you are going to use the DYK checklist template, please be sure to use valid values for each field. The status field does not take an icon or symbol; valid values are "y" if no problems, "?" for minor problems, "maybe" if nomination needs work, "no" if completely ineligible, and "again" if you want someone else to take a look; the template automatically shows the appropriate icon based on these. (See Template:DYK checklist/doc for the complete lists of fields and their accepted values.) The bot that moves the nominations to the Approved page depends on seeing one of those five values. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:24, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
- Please also be sure to specify in your comments which hook or hooks you are approving (the checklist only really lets you do so for one hook), and if you feel one is more interesting than another, you can mention that as well. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:42, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you, BlueMoonset for your helpful comments. This is only my second or third DYK review, so I welcome your advice. I prefer the first of the two hooks offered. HouseOfChange (talk) 04:23, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
