The Barrier (Spanish: La valla) is a Spanish dystopian drama TV series created by Daniel Écija and starring Unax Ugalde, Olivia Molina and Eleonora Wexler. It first aired on Atresplayer Premium in January 2020.[1] It debuted internationally in September 2020 on Netflix.[2][3]

Synopsis

In the 2040s, twenty years after World War III, Spain faces radiation, disease, and extreme shortages. A despotic government rises and places the country under martial law. Madrid is divided into two sectors separated by a wall. The wealthy and powerful live in relative safety and luxury, but everyone else lives in squalor and in fear of forced disappearances.

The Barrier premiered on Atresplayer Premium on 19 January 2020.[4] The finale aired on 12 April 2020.[5] The free-to-air broadcasting run on Antena 3 started on 10 September 2020.[6] The series was released on Netflix on 11 September 2020.[7]
