Well, I wrote this page 10 years ago. Not much has changed. I'm 41 now, lol. I'm better on computers. (But I'm currently without one) I understand Wikipedia more. I spell better- when the iPad isn't trying to be "helpful." I love YouTube and Quora in addition to Wikipedia. I'm still curious about everything. My soaps As The World Turns and Guiding Light got cancelled so now I'm an addict of General Hospital. I'm still rooting for a revival though, especially Guiding Light. And speaking of revival, I can't wait to see the Gilmore Girls revival. I'm also fanning Supernatural.

@@@@@@@
I am a 31 year old female new to Wikipedia and only marginally computer literate. I hope to be helpful in expanding and creating articles- especially getting the ball rolling on topics that I think deserve more attention.
Sometimes I edit without logging on. I added this "unsigned" comment to link to the other edits made on my computer (ie. by me). 208.53.102.132 (talk) 20:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)amyanda2000
article I am currently working on: Beth Spaulding Bauer208.53.116.182 (talk) 02:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)amyanda2000
- logged about 6 hours today working on character history, refernces and other info. it's not perfect, but the article was virtually non-existant and seemed to completly forget character's rich history.
- worked several hours earlier in the week on the article, including reading through some wiki guidlines on improving articles. am dedicated to this article until it reaches a level of excellence.
- recruiting dedicated editors. hoping to assemble a team to perfect this article and perhaps move on to some other Guiding Light and As The World Turns articles. There is a lot of work, and it's easy to overlook details.
- ATWT article that I am currently most interested in helping on is Emily Stewart.
- Guiding Light needs articles about Inside the Light, Find your light, the vollenteer work, Springfield Burns, Springfield 2008 ect. Both shows need information about multi-media and internet presence.
- Performer pages probably need some attention as well. (concerning the wikiproject: Soap Operas)
- Would love if Guiding Light had it's own wikiproject.
- I hope some day you will join us, and the world will live as one. Ok, I blatantly stole that from John Lennon. It's not plagerism, it's a quote. So join us.
"I Should Tell You"
[edit]I am watching RENT every chance I get.
I went to church this week for the first time in years. It was (suprisingly) a good experience.
I am thinking about giving up the internet for Lent. (even though I'm a bit late). I haven't made up my mind though.
I just finished reading Angela's Ashes. If you want to read about misery, poverty and a whole lot of children dying left and right, that's the book for you. I was however slightly thrilled when I read the line, "This isn't Itally, It's Calcutta" because I had just decifered the meaning of "This is Calcutta, Bohemia is dead" from the movie RENT. (It references the extremem poverty, disease and misery of Calcutta, as opposed to the characters idealized version of their lives as romantic bohemian artists)
I am female. I have a boyfriend. I don't smoke. I am a college and beauty school drop-out. Wikipedia is great because other people can finish what you start- you don't have to. I consider myself a feminist.
I am addicted to Pepsi, but trying to give it up.
I pretty much love to read. I love the Hobbit, but not as much of a fan of the Lord of the Rings Trilligy. I'm a terrible speller too. I also love Harry Potter and do not think that he is a tool of the devil. I am especially a fan of fantasy and occult fiction and definatly would not want to forget to mention David Eddings. Overall though, I wish that there were more fantasy books that were stand-alone, becuase I prefer to read books that are NOT part of a series.
I enjoy writing.I like to sing, but that doesn't mean I can hold a tune.
I have ADD. Yes, this is a real condition.
I want to know everything.
Current Projects
[edit]- Beth Spaulding Bauer - Trying to make this a good article, establishing notability for this long time Guiding Light character, and make a well rounded character with both a proper character history AND attention to other sections of the article. I spent a lot of time trying to build this up, and I know it still needs a lot of work. I would really appreciate some participation both on the article and the talk page. I'm feeling kind of lonely and I know I can't do this on my own. 208.53.116.182 (talk) 02:51, 15 April 2008 (UTC)amyanda2000
Politics and Beliefs
[edit]I am liberal.
I vote. But sometimes I wonder if it really makes a difference.
I definatly oppose George Bush AND the mentallity that sais, "don't vote for anybody who might have reason to think he's better than you, vote for a rich oil dude who got average grades in school and therefore you feel that he's someone you can relate to."
I don't know if that sentence makes sence, but I don't care.
I still think it's beyond rude to refer to the President of the United States as "Shrub"
I don't like Condelleza Rice, but I would vote for her for President. My personal political wet dream is that both candidates are female so that gender isn't an issue. (Of course, it will still be an issue, somehow, right?)
I am pro-life. I believe that life begins at conception, and at the very least, implantation. I don't support the oppression of the patriarchy and all that, I just can't justify what I consider the killing of an innocent human life. I also oppose the death penalty and war in most cases but support limited euthanasia. (I don't want to talk about it. I'll say something to piss you off, that's how it always goes.)
I definatly support equal rights for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transexuals, and others who identify as queer. I support the legalization of 'same sex marriage' or whatever you want to call it. As long as it's two compitant adult human beings who wish to marry, I support it. I also think Anna Nicole Smith should get her money.
I support breatfeeding. I support public breatfeeding. I think discretion is fine, but shouldn't be necessary. I think your head turns both ways. I think it's rude to stare. I think it's insane that people who are not offended by breast baring tops and thong bikinis are offended by the site of a woman unashamedly breastfeeding.
I have run out of things to say!

Style Guidelines
[edit]Plot summaries Keep summaries brief. Plot summaries should be kept brief, only as an overview of the topic. The main purpose of Wikipedia articles is to provide encyclopedic information about a subject, such as its cultural impact, and not to provide a detailed description of story events. The Wikipedia articles can then provide links to other websites which have more detailed storyline information.
"Brief" in this context means a plot summary of approximately 500 words for a typical character article, though more may be appropriate for longrunning characters where there has been a great deal of real-world impact.
Tense Present tense is recommended, but controversial. There is currently controversy over whether plot summaries should be written in present-tense or past-tense. Most editors agree with the Wikipedia Manual of Style guideline that writing about fiction should be done in the present tense. The basic intent of this guideline is to stylistically differentiate between real-world and fictional events. However, many editors feel that with longterm soap operas, which can often run for decades, never have any repeats and are tied to "real-world" timelines, that it may be more appropriate to use past-tense.
The general consensus of editors at this WikiProject is to go along with Wikipedia guidelines, which means present tense, though past-tense may be appropriate in certain situations. Whichever version is used, it should be consistent throughout a single article. Also, real-world and fictional events should be clearly separated, preferably in their own sections, to avoid confusion.
For more information, see WP:TENSE, or the related conversation on this WikiProject talkpage.
Prose vs. lists Avoid lists within articles whenever possible. The Manual of Style specifically notes "Do not use lists if a passage reads easily using plain paragraphs" and Wikipedia:Embedded list asserts that (among other things) "Most Wikipedia articles should consist of prose, and not just a list of links. Prose allows the presentation of detail and clarification of context, while a list of links does not. Prose flows, like one person speaking to another, and is best suited to articles, because their purpose is to explain ... In an article, significant items should be mentioned naturally within the text rather than merely listed."
Trivial lists such as "Crimes committed" or "Previous occupations" are also inappropriate, as they generally fail notability requirements. If events and details are notable, they will have a natural place within the text of the article.
Program articles A soap opera article should include:
The name of the series (in bold italics), network affiliation, first airdate and, if applicable, final airdate A brief overview of notable historical and current storylines on the show Cultural impact of the series and/or its characters Notable cast members
[edit] Character articles
[edit] Notability standards All soap-related articles, and character articles in particular, must meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for fiction. Simply stated, "A topic is presumed to be notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."
Thus, an article should be created about a soap opera character only if the character is notable within the series and and the subject of third-party discussions. Otherwise, the character should simply be listed in a "List of characters" for that particular program.
Character articles should always be written from a "real world" perspective, and should definitely not consist simply of in-universe plot summary. As such, it should include:
Real-world dates for when the character was created Which actors have played the character, and when Any awards which were won by the actor for playing that character The article should not be used for a collection of storyline trivia about the character. As a rule of thumb, only those events which were significant enough to have been written about in third-party sources should be included.
Remember that we are here to create an encyclopedia, not to provide a comprehensive guide to soap opera storylines. Wherever possible, try to discuss the character in "real world" context: Why are they important to non-fans, how are they affecting modern culture, what have they done that is historic in a real-world context. If a detail is only interesting to those who watch the show, it is probably not worth including in the Wikipedia article. See WP:CRUFT.
See the "Examples" section lower on this page for samples of good articles.
Articles should include:
The

, with basic information included.
A lead paragraph which indicates the name of the character, when it originated, current or last portrayer and a very brief summary of the other material in the article. A good lead encapsulates the entire article in a couple paragraphs. Notation of all of actors that have played the character, and the dates; this is usually done in the infobox, and often summarized in the lead section. A list the awards that have been won for the role Storyline summary; 500-1000 words maximum Sources and references. Every article must have verifiable sources such as newspaper and magazine articles that talk about the character, or at the minimum, biography links to soap sites such as soapcentral.com. If a character is not notable enough to be mentioned in outside press, then they're not notable enough to have an article on Wikipedia! Appropriate categories; see Category:Soap opera characters
