Reader's Wives
'Like a loved up Joe Strummer fronting the Smiths' - DAILY MIRROR, UK
Readers Wives (formed in Dublin in 2008) are an independent rock band named after a British soft-core pornographic magazine. Led by cult Dublin anti-folk songwriter, Niall James Holohan, their self titled debut album, released in 2009 received widespread critical acclaim & set the platform for the band to get out on the road & start building it's audience in the UK & Ireland.
Over the course of the past two years & over 150 live shows in all manner of locations, from prisons to penthouses, the Wives have steadily built a following while gently releasing free EPs & random bootlegs on their own label & through it's affiliates in the UK & Europe.
'The Wives' now return with their second full length album titled 'Rachel's Apartment' in honour of the Temple Bar squat where it was written & recorded over the course of four intense months in 2010. Readers Wives are set to play venues and festivals in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Holland & Finland this summer.
Their latest album 'Rachel's Apartment' is due to be released on independent Irish label Megafone on July 1st 2011.
