Cardboard Ben Hardy (also known as Ben Cardy) is the name given to a Cardboard cutout of Ben Hardy by fans of Bohemian Rhapsody (film)
Early Life
[edit]Cardboard Ben came into existence in November 2018 after the human Ben Hardy couldn’t attend the Japan press tour for Bohemian Rhapsody (film) . The cast of the movie, singularly Gwilym Lee , Rami Malek , and especially Joe Mazzello , toted Cardboard Ben around Japan and other excursions.
Relationships
[edit]While human Ben was away, Joe grew closer to Cardboard Ben. They enjoyed events together, such as going on a picnic with Ben Cardy and the rest of the Bohemian Rhapsody (film) cast, and even bailing Cardboard Ben out of jail. Things started to get complicated when human Ben started to notice Joe growing close to his cardboard counterpart. Ben was initially very moved by his friends bringing of Cardboard Ben on the tour, expressing so in an Instagram photo of the cast and Ben Cardy captioned, “I love my friends. Gutted I can’t be there in Japan and this has really cheered me up!” But tensions grew when he noticed the budding relationship between Ben Cardy and Joe. The next events fold into what some have called “the most thrilling love triangle of this century” by fans. Ben reposted one of Rami’s Instagram posts showing Mazzello holding Cardboard Ben close to him onstage. Ben captioned the post, “Never thought I’d be envious of a cardboard cutout #bohemianrhapsody” Soon after, Joe posted an Instagram video depicted him buckling Cardboard Ben’s seatbelt. Fans quickly noticed the similarities between Joe’s worries for both Cardboard Ben and human Ben’s health, drawing reference to a 2018 interview in which Joe said, “We’re trying to save your life.” after Hardy commented on his limited ability to smoke onscreen for the film. Mazzello also shortly thereafter posted an image of the cast and Ben Cardy at a bar. The next post on Mazzello’s Instagram was a video showing the aftermath of what seemed to be a friends with benefits situation with Cardboard Ben. This seemed to be the last straw for human Ben, and he posted an image of himself holding onto Joe and tipping him over, while trying to bite an apple in Joe’s mouth. The post was captioned, “Cardboard Ben will never be able to dip you like I can”. Human Ben also posted a comment under the video saying, “I’m starting to think you love him more than me...”

[edit]Another video was posted of Joe and Cardboard Ben dancing along to boss ass bitch. The video ended with Ben Cardy falling after messing up a turn and Mazzello shrieked at him with anger. A big turn in the course of all three’s relationships came when another video surfaced of a dazed Mazzello waking up in the same bed as human and Cardboard Ben. The public didn’t know where the three stood on Relationships with each other. This question was however answered with another video from Mazzello’s Instagram showing Joe leaving Ben, suitcase in hand. Joe described how Ben Cardy had been giving him the silent treatment since he didn’t bring him to the Oscars. The video however ended with Mazzello saying, “I’ll be back for you.” And leaving swiftly.
