[edit]This rest of this Page contains material which is kept because the contents are considered by LeoRomero to be humorous. They are not intended for research purposes (unless you're a research psychologist). And they are never meant to offend. So when I do get douchie, please do de-douche me at my Primary Playground. Thank you. |
I am the oldest surviving inmate on Solitary Confinement at the Wikipedia Asylum. I have no say in running it, because they put me in lockup, where I belong. Also: I want to be a woman From now on, I want you all to call me LoRETta. (At least until we fix Gender bias on Wikipedia).
My Cellmate at The Asylum, and Guide through all The Projects, is William Chester Minor, resident of Broadmoor Asylum, and the greatest contributor to the OED.
Dear Leaders of The Asylum: The First Rule of Anarchy is this: Question Authority.
I question you.
One moment of serious: Real identity, Permanent Record, Conflicts of Interest, a.s.o

- Although the TheLabCoats wrote it (hence, use with delusion), In My Douchie Opinion (IMDO) Xtools is the creepiest & coolest "transparency" toy
- Silicon Valley Commons, an ancient doo-gooder project on Wikia - WARNING: ADS
- Who am I really? Dunno. You can see my flaws much better than I can see them myself (ref Hypocrisy), so am kinda hoping you'd tell me. http://leoromero.org https://www.youtube.com/c/LeoRomeroVid https://twitter.com/leoromero
- Do you have relatives, friends, organizations, or other possible Conflicts of Interest in Wikipedia? Yup. Any relevant articles you'd ever edited? Yes: Mila del Sol (mother), Eddie Romero (father), Jonathan Haidt (and other friends in the "Positive Psychology" movement), still others, I'd bet
- Have you ever been paid, or have you ever asked to be paid, for any contribution to any Project, ever? No.
- Have ever created an article related to a person you don't even like? Yes: The Sense of Style by Steven Pinker. Why don't you like Steven Pinker? Now is not the time for douchieness.
- Questions? Suggestions for my improvement? Insults? Meet me at my Playground. Mabuhay!

Words i live by
[edit]Words by which I live. Words, phrases, and sentences. Words, phrases, and sentences by which I live by, today only:
You think Wikipedia's broken? Go fix it. In those unforgettable words of the poet Linus Pauling: We are the world. So let's start givin'
Words i try to live without
[edit]Words are weapons2 of mass delusion, so I try to avoid substitutes for thinking, such as these cliches, and am still repenting for: -an/-al/at/-ian/-ism/-ist/-ive (and all other labels and suffixes I affix to people), ___ Wars (and all applications of War as conceptual metaphor, including, but not limited to, Edit Wars§ and most Star Wars), #hashtag, 24/7, absolutely, always, amazing, As a (followed by jerky remark), at the end of the day, awesome, back in the day, best practices, bottom line, cra-cra, creative, curate/curated, disrupt, eAnything, effective, efficient, effective and efficient, efficient and effective, Evil (vs Good), Good (vs Evil), great, green, Having been (followed by jerky remark), iAnything, Ima, I'm just sayin', Ima just sayin', I'm so excited to, I'm so excite!, including, but not limited to, lessons learned, LOL/OMG/WTF, looking forward to, metrics, Mission, never, never say never, organic, passion, passionate, random, run on sentences splattered with semi-stops, said no one ever, selfie (tho snarkily), shared sacrifice, skill set, spoiler alert, step away, step back, takeaway, Task Force, teachable moment, Team, Team-building, Teamwork, tho, track record, transparent, transparency, tweet, under the bus, unprecedented, viral, Vision, War on ____, webinar, wordsmith/ing, world-class, x is the new y, yolo (this I blame on my kids).
§ Average number of deaths and injuries per capita due to Edit Wars, as of today, across all Wikimedia Projects: still 0. So how's that like War again? As a Veteran, and a Father of Veterans, I'm just sayin'.3
2 ? My Dearest Leo - That's not hypocritical at all, esp after your 3rant against War as Metaphor. Ima just sayin' - WarM Hugs; LorRETta
Words i helped define in Wiktionary
[edit]fire, loob, community, hypocrisy,
Some of each vs Either/or
[edit]Humans have evolved - by dumb luck or by design, it doesn't much matter - to automatically think and act in terms of either/or. Predator or prey? Friend or foe? Fight or flee? We've done that for at least 200,000 years, as modern humans, and for ~4.5 billion years, in various forms, before that.
It's only in the last 50 years that a good minority of us have come to realize that things are no longer so simple. Many of us are simultaneously Liberals and Conservatives, Pro Life and Pro Choice, Pro Immigrant and Pro Law, Pro Faith and Pro Reason, Pro Anarchy and Pro Order, and most anything in between.
I loved the irony of the Pope having to explain to the US Congress that "there is another temptation which we must especially guard against: the simplistic reductionism which sees only good or evil; or, if you will, the righteous and sinners. The contemporary world, with its open wounds which affect so many of our brothers and sisters, demands that we confront every form of polarization which would divide it into these two camps". That's like the Pope saying Who am I to judge?
As I tumble like a farm boy into Wikimedia haystacks, I sometimes get pricked by simplistic reductionistic needles. I stick the pricks into my pin cushion, then go on with merry play.
Please support a Culture of Kindness on Wikipedia
[edit]Civility is nice, but I'd like to go back to our roots - when Wikipedia was all about concern for others, and our interactions were pleasant and compassionate - not just "civil".

The most time i'd EVER spent exercising my right to vote
[edit]These guides represent the thoughts of their authors. All individually written voter guides are eligible for inclusion. |
- On my ballot so far: Callanecc, GorillaWelfare, Keilana, Opabinia regalis.
- Update 12.3.15 Got asked why all the candidates on my ballot are female. Didn't know that til just now. (And I'd thought at least two of them were nonhumans; false advertising) I'd say Freudian slip, but the guy was on coke and stuff, and I'm on a diet. Full Full Disclosure then: I am a Feminist. I know that's kinda sexist and -ist-ist and hypocritical of me and all. But until we fix the Gender bias on Wikipedia, ah well.
Now to add my name to that Honor Role of Female Wikipedians.
Update 12.6.15: I was too dumb to vote. Am leaving this here anyway, as yet another reminder, as if I needed one, that I am always dumber than I think.
