Here are some extra tips to help you get around Wikipedia:
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills, try the Sandbox.
  • Click on the Edit button on a page, and look at how other editors did what they did.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Always sign comments on Talk pages, never sign Articles.
  • You might want to add yourself to the New User Log
  • If your first language isn't English, try Wikipedia:Contributing to articles outside your native language
  • Full details on Wikipedia style can be found in the Manual of Style.

Remember to mark your edits as minor only when they genuinely are (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). "The rule of thumb is that an edit of a page that is spelling corrections, formatting, and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'."

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Hi. I just made a few edits to the article Oxford Dance Symposium, which you created. I mostly focused on formatting fixes and making sure the article follows the manual of style, but a couple of times I had to guess how you intended certain parts to be interpreted, in particular what I've made into the 'Productions' section, and the first sentence. I'd appreciate it if you could have a look over the article and check that the changes I've made are all correct and fine with you. Thanks for the feedback. Can I ask for somme specific help? I consulted many Wiki articles before writing this one - see some of them below - and followed their general layouts and style. In particular, I used the MLA article, which is much longer than this one and covers a range of activities in the same style as mine. Further, their citation list contains multiple references to their society's publications whereas my draft has only one, an obituary volume. Other material - such as the review of the conference - is published in another journal entirely.

This “It serves all those interested in the history and technique of British and British-related theatre: academic and independent scholars, researchers, performers and other theatre workers – and, of course, theatregoers. The only qualification for membership is an enthusiasm for the subject” is just blatant advertising.

The “New Researchers' Network“ “Theatre Book Prize “ and “Grants” sections are unsourced and promotional Content like “ Each of the three founders was an influential figure in the history of the theatre” is unsourced trumpery.
