Welcome!
Interested in becoming a regular contributor to Wikipedia? Create an account! Your , so you might receive messages on this page that were not intended for you.To have your own user pages, keep track of articles you've edited in a watchlist, and have access to a few other special features, please consider registering an account! It's fast and free. (Note: Sometimes, due to vandalism, you may be temporarily unable to register). Applying an indefinite block to this IP is not appropriate, unless it is a soft block, because the IP address will later be reallocated to a different, unrelated, and unsuspecting user, thereby impairing access to Wikipedia in an inappropriate fashion. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking. The best approach is to determine the CIDR IP numerical address range and make a higher-level decision to soft-block the entire range. http://www.arin.net/ (for approximately North America) and related sites can help to identify that range. Caution is advised when applying a range block as other Wikipedians, both registered and otherwise, may be affected.
Review contributions carefully if blocking this IP address or reverting its contributions. If a block is needed, administrators should consider a soft block using Template:Anonblock. Network administrators, to monitor this IP address for vandalism, can subscribe to a web feed of this page in either RSS or Atom format. |

[edit]Hello, I'm Optakeover. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to List of TCP and UDP port numbers— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Optakeover(U)(T)(C) 12:35, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Optakeover, mind explaining your rollback? I am the same person as in Talk:List of TCP and UDP port numbers#Statistics of cleanup efforts so far. You've also rollbacked lots of other (good faith) edits without rationale. 84.250.17.211 (talk) 12:38, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
"Word-replace "material" to "publications": Neutral point of view)"
[edit]Explain? ViperSnake151 Talk 16:57, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
@ViperSnake151: Your concern is about Special:Diff/812358133.
There are no physical, material objects in information shared via links. They link to copies of works or publications. Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17), Chapter 1 also talks mostly about works in context of everything and material in context of objects. The copyright law also doesn't concern itself with trademarks or patents, other "intellectual property" rights. The idea of copyright is limited: It's an exclusive right for a period of time, but you don't own the subject as long as you have it.
Is something wrong with my interpretation? 84.250.17.211 (talk) 01:19, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

[edit]I do apologize for reverting your good faith edit on Special:Diff/825286254. Anonymous users editing frequently vandalized pages raises many red flags, and while not required, I would recommend acquiring a username to help prevent false positives. Again, I apologize for my mistake. - PabloMartinez (talk) 15:29, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
blanket blah
[edit]Hello, and thank you for greeting me with a standard blanket blah. It looks to me as if you have not paid enough attention to the WP:FAITH principle. Usage of copyrighted material without permission is illegal, both in WP and elsewhere. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.126.8.121 (talk) 02:23, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- See Special:Diff/834529445 edit summary reasoning. 84.250.17.211 (talk) 11:06, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- I'd also like to note there is no "material ownership" but only limited period exclusive right in copyright. I like to talk about copyrighted "works" or "publications" instead of copyrighted "material". 84.250.17.211 (talk) 11:13, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
AN/I
[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. 84.250.17.211 (talk) 14:24, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
Not constructive?
[edit]Uncalled for to accuse me of being unconstructive. It was an genuine edit made in good faith. You are the one jumping the gun. The structure is still substantially standing and intact. It still exists. Only one section of it collapsed. If the rest of the structure is knocked down instead of being repaired then it could be referred to in the past tense. 203.110.146.116 (talk) 18:22, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
You're referring to my edit Special:Diff/854914922 in an article.
@Pigsonthewing (Special:Diff/854924500) and @Jmv2009 (Special:Diff/854922395) seem to have also disagreed with you, at least. I partially assumed good faith until both "crosses" and "is" were mentioned simultaneously. "is" and "crossed" would've been fine for me to assume good faith. Apologies, anyway. 84.250.17.211 (talk) 01:19, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
- At one point, I did also consider using
{{Uw-error1}}
instead. But the sources say otherwise and it's controversial anyway, so{{Uw-vandalism1}}
(or{{Uw-disruptive1}}
) was my next choice. 84.250.17.211 (talk) 01:21, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

- Also, the not-a-FP you responded to (thanks!), was actually two unrelated reports wedged into one. See the page history. I moved your response to what I hope was the right place; if not, let me know. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 03:53, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Concerning Your September 2018 Revert of Non Profit Internet Archive/Wayback Machine
[edit]Your edit of [1] has been undone because it is not constructive, if you have issue with this please take it up with the Internet Archive. If you revert again, your account will be reported to administrators, as this talk page reflects many reports by other editors of non-constructive edits to the TCP/UDP port page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:9921:930:a4ba:104e:195b:777b (talk) 18:18, 28 October 2018
Hello, please familiarize yourself with WP:BRD. Since your last two BOLD edits, I have reverted both. The next step for us would be discussion; you're invited to do so at Talk:List of TCP and UDP port numbers.
Empty threats are not appreciated. We may not agree on all things. Please also see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not.
If you believe there is an issue which requires administrative attention, you're welcome to do so anyway without threatening me. I don't think the previous talks on this talk page to require such; in fact, the AN/I one I have reported myself and it was an obvious waste of time of everyone involved. Focus on the edits, not the editor (contributor). 84.250.17.211 (talk) 10:02, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
RD1
[edit]You added and RD1 request to Blender_(software).
However per: terms-and-conditions
The material might be acceptably licensed.
I'm going to remove the RD1 request; please let me know if you think I missed something.--S Philbrick(Talk) 19:34, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Incivility
[edit]I am deleting the entire thread from my talk page because of your pompous insistence on having people do things your way and splashing blue links around. It is the height of incivility. I only tried to be helpful in the first place; I didn't ask for lectures on formatting. I won't be posting again here either, or even watching, so you can reply however you like. This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
