Disambiguation link notification for December 8
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Bus garage, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hull (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Sorry
I am sorry for making a mistake marking an edit on Rex Tucker (American football) as a disruptive edit, even though it wasn’t. Since the user had previously vandalised before on the page, I was suspicious of what he added. I will be more careful next time, and I will check if the edits were actually disrupted. This could possibly be the first time a mistake was made by me in two weeks. Thank you. 122.108.183.105 (talk) 08:13, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- @122.108.183.105: On reflection, I should really have checked the page history before assuming bad faith edit summaries, and before adding warning templates. I have removed the warning I placed on your talk page, looking through your contributions, thanks for your work against vandalism.

Spam?
Sorry, but putting a link to the only Ivan Boyarshinov sword outside Russia is not spam. Google Ivan Boyarshinov swords and see what you find; nothing. The sword is the ONLY published example of the subject. PS I have sold the sword so do not need to spam it!!! The page will shortly go into our archives so will still be there for others to see. You speak of Ivan Boyarshinov's famed engravings but have no examples! Here is that rarest of rare examples. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:2C56:6E00:54A6:876A:F5F8:1844 (talk) 12:39, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Under WP:LINKSPAM, adding links to an article that could be seen to be for "promoting a website or a product" is not permitted. In adding a link to a website where you are selling a sword, this is seen as promoting a product, therefore the edit was reverted.

Please refrain from Correcting my Spelling mistakes until no edits have occurred for six hours
Hi there. I'm a new editor. I'm making a DRAFT page. Please do not make ridiculous and totally useless spelling corrections to a page which I am updating constantly causing bizarre popups about edit conflict. I am adding complex argumentation to this page. I already fixed the spelling errors BEFORE you came along. I just lost a lot of work. Please please please leave the page alone...Tewdar (talk) 12:11, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
- Apologies, would probably make sense not to bother doing spellings on drafts anyway. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 12:18, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
- @OxonAlex - indeed it would - tell you what, put a bullet list of the consequences of Williams' theory of the prosodic shift for Cornish on the page, and you can consider yourself forgiven...
- @OxonAlex - that was a joke, please do not contribute to the page in any way. :-)

Correcting the name of a page?
I am working on Joe Conforte's page and problem is his name is Joseph Conforte. He was born Giuseppe Christophe Conforte and given the name Joseph when he immigrated through Ellis Island. Joe is his nickname.
What do I do about that? How do I fix it? Owilli2019 (talk) 23:38, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Owilli2019:. WP:UCRN is the policy in question here. The name most often used in sources is what we call the article (i.e. George Orwell's page uses his pen name, not Eric Arthur Blair. If the full name is more often used in sources, then there would be a case to rename. I would recommend asking in Talk:Joe Conforte.
- After you have been here for 4 days and made 10 edits, there is nothing stopping you following WP:BOLD and moving it yourself - see WP:MV for instructions and considerations. But unless there is a clear reason for the move, it will probably be reverted and require talk page consensus.
- Thanks, ~~ OxonAlex - talk 07:26, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

deleted entry changes
Hi OxonAlex, Thanks for the note about conflicts-of-interest in a post, in this case, for "David Bollier." I plead guilty.
I'd like to request that you review my edits for neutral POV (uncontroversial updates & facts) to see if you could responsibly let them be posted -- or alternatively, if you could email me the changes that I made to the existing entry. Is that possible?
Many thanks....
Davidbollier (talk) 18:04, 11 July 2019 (UTC)davidbollier david@bollier.org
- @Davidbollier: I can't personally review them, because I don't know enough about the subject to be of any use. Generally for COI edits, it is prefered that the Request edit template is placed on the article talk page (Talk:David Bollier). Another editor then reviews this, and either adds the content to the article, or says why it can't be added. This review is usually done quite quickly (there's a queue of 4 edits to be reviewed at the moment). You can directly edit the article in certain circumstances, detailed in WP:COIU, but you must place
- {{Connected contributor|User1=Your username |U1-declared=yes}}
- on the talk page, mention COI in the edit summary. The full policy is at WP:COI, which I would recommend reading

Robert Tombs
Robert Tombs is an unreliable source. Writing mad fact-free shite on popular news sites makes him unworthy of your manic determination to present him as a normal, rational human being. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.179.135.137 (talk) 13:55, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- @86.179.135.137:, under Wikipedia's policy for biographies of living persons, any claim that is likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation. This is because the foundation, and wikipedia itself, have an interest in not being sued.
- If you have a reliable, published source that confirms that
- "Has also prostituted himself by writing mad fact-free shite in support of Brexshit in various publications. Many have reacted with sadness at this evidence of his intellectual decline."
- you are more than welcome to add the information back into the article, with a supporting inline citation.
- However, you are advised to also read WP:BLPSTYLE, for information on the correct writing style for biographies of living persons.
- Thanks, ~~ OxonAlex - talk 14:06, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
Rollback granted
Hi OxonAlex. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 04:08, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Gun control Australia.
You removed my edits on the gun controll Australia page. You stated that it was vandalism to the page and unconstructive. My question to you is how is adding the fact that they are funded by George Soros and also adding the fact that they refuse to focus on the main gun violence issue in Australia ( illegal firearms 99% of gun crime) instead of targeting law abiding/licensed owners (1% of gun crime) unconstructive? Australiantruth (talk) 14:15, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Australiantruth: I reverted the following statement
- "While being strongly supported by the greens and being funded by George Soros, who also funds Antifa."
- This is unsourced, so violates WP:V. Generally, any edit that goes on about Soros, probably also violates WP:NPOV.
- Thanks,
- ~~ OxonAlex - talk 14:20, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
I edited again, with links to support said information, from the website of the organisation that the page is about. The issue of the group focusing on legal and licensed firearm owners. This is clearly visible on the site of gun controll Australia. Why is this deemed non constructive when the organisation themselves publishes the information? Australiantruth (talk) 14:47, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
- This was nothing to do with me. You're edit was reverted by 99.53.112.186, however, it may have been reverted as adding your own opinions about what the groups focus should be. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 14:50, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Hello OxonAlex,
Tell me where there is some advertising for you that I can edit. I have been working for a long time on this article, and I read a lot of press articles, I try to write as encyclopedically as possible. Y.Leclercq 15:52, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
- My concern was with the style of the article seeming very press release like - the content's fine, and it's a good article, but it seems to be written a bit too much like a press release - For example, in the promotion section:
.The RM 011 Starck resulting from this collaboration is extremely complex and a tour de force of engineering.
- I changed the tag from {{Advert}} to {{Tone}}, as it isn't a massive problem, and advert seems a bit too negative.

Re: Recent edit to André Previn
@OxonAlex: Hello OxonAlex, Thank you for your comment. Please note that André Previn is not a living person, as he passed away on 28 February 2019. However, I acknowledge that I did not include a citation for my edit. I am very new to Wikipedia and still learning how to do a lot of things. Does an email from a LSO member who was chairman of the orchestra during Previn's LSO tenure count as a reliable source? (In the meantime, another LSO contact is looking for a press source that he says exists.) Thanks! Wasabi.Sensei (talk) 08:36, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
- The problem with an email would be that others would be unable to view the source in order to verify it supported the point, so a press source would be better.
- Also, the BLP policy generally also applies to recently deceased people, unless we can be absolutely certain they are dead. The essay "Death by Wikipedia" gives examples of where people who aren't dead have been marked as dead. As this would have significant ramifications for the person if still alive, we are generally quite strict with the policy in this area.
- Thanks, ~~ OxonAlex - talk 11:21, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

I noticed that you tagged Arzu Aliyeva with {{prod blp}} for proposed deletion. I have removed the tag from the article because it does not meet the criteria specified. The placement requirements are (a) that subject is living, and (b) that the article contains no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc., reliable or otherwise) supporting any statements made about the person in the biography. Please fully read Wikipedia:Proposed deletion of biographies of living people before tagging articles for proposed deletion. Thank you. Adam9007 (talk) 20:58, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
Request for your assistance in keeping an important article alive
Greetings,
I noticed that you voted "KEEP" on a recent music-related deletion dispute. I would greatly appreciate it if you could consider voting KEEP in the following case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/ADSR_Online_Midi_Editor_and_Player
After several people voted "DELETE", I discovered that Classical_Archives (the largest classical music site in the world), has endorsed the product that this article describes, for the past two years. The following website contains the statement "MidiPro.org is the ONLY Online Midi Editor": https://www.classicalarchives.com/midi.html
It would be a huge loss to the music community if this article was deleted, since it describes the only Online Midi Editor and Player in existence.

Submission declined for Malcolm Waters (captain)
Excuse me sir. Why did you decline it when I edited all this work? I don’t understand why? Draft:Malcolm_Waters_(_captain_) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaden7667 (talk • contribs)
- The draft was declined at present for two reasons. The first is that without adaquate referencing, there is no way for either editors nor viewers to verify the article is true. Secondly, we only keep articles on notable people - our policy on people known only for one event is that people only known for one event aren't usually notable. There are cases on pilots in crashes getting articles - see Chesley Sullenberger, but there must be significant coverage of the person, that is not just their involvement in the incident.

Thank you for making a report about 204.116.115.182 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If the user continues to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. Thank you. Reaper Eternal (talk) 14:29, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Reaper Eternal, please see 1, 2, & 3 and this. These don't seem to be good faith edits, although admittedly the last one I reverted wasn't awful. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 14:34, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- He started making good-faith edits after the warnings yesterday for the vandalism. While some of the edits do violate WP:ENGVAR, this is not vandalism. Reaper Eternal (talk) 14:38, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Nevermind, he just went back to vandalism. Reaper Eternal (talk) 14:39, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Why contesting deletion in Pulse Nigeria,
Pls removed the tag that you put in Pulse Nigeria, because the article is OK (Wiziesan (talk)) —Preceding undated comment added 16:04, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- Wiziesan, the problem is significance (not notability). The article doesn't mention why the website is significant, hence it was nominated for speedy deletion as a website that not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject. There are a lot of news websites, and we can't practically have an article for all of them.
- Additionally, if it was not speedy deleted, the chance of it being deleted at articles for deletion is practically certain in its current state. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 16:11, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Ok thanks, what's the next thing to do in the article now (Wiziesan (talk))
Ok thanks, what's the next thing to do in the article now (Wiziesan (talk))
- @Wiziesan: The first thing to do is to read Wikipedia:Everything you need to know, especially the first section. Does your subject have
significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject
? If it doesn't - don't write the article. - Assuming you have found sources to establishish notability, then read Wikipedia:Beef up that first revision - people who review new pages don't have that much time to spend on each page, and can only base their review on what you present to them. So, you shouldn't create the page until it meets the criteria from part one, especially if it meets a speedy deletion criteria. You can store it in userspace or draftspace until it does.
- Last, if you are being paid to create articles, or are creating articles are part of your employment, you are required to disclose this - WP:PAID, and to follow the Conflict of Interest editing guidelines - WP:COI.

OK Mruser:oxonalex, got ya, I should just make a draft right (Wiziesan (talk)) —Preceding undated comment added 09:57, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
- Wiziesan, It would be recommended. You could submit it through WP:AFC, although you don't have to. Otherwise when your draft is done you can just move it yourself, although if the problems remain it will probably be deleted again. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 12:06, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
- OK that's nice for improving me, thanks very much — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiziesan (talk • contribs) 12:26, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

File source problem with File:36 route logo.svg
Thank you for uploading File:36 route logo.svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lakewood Football Deletion
Hello, Alex
I just wanted to bring to your attention that the content in question on my page is copyrighted by me. I am the sole owner/author of all the work borrowed from lakewoodfootball.com, so I need to know how to clarify this so that my page is in good standing, and is not deleted. Please visit the site and confirm the copyright notice in my name, Lucio Arellano. I can provide an associated email for work donation if I must. Please advise. Thanks. BigRed66BigRed66 (talk) 08:39, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- BigRed66, you need to contact OTRS to donate the material. An OTRS volunteer will then tag the page as containing content that would violate copyright, but permission has been granted.
- Firstly, read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials - any text released here must be able to be reused.
- Then, email permissions-en@wikimedia.org
- Then, once an email is sent place {{subst:OP}} on the talk page.
- However, there are still notability concerns, just because we have permission to use content doesn't mean we'll host it. For anything to have a Wikipedia article, it needs
significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the topic
- a high school sports team probably won't meet this, and the article may just be deleted as non notable, rather than as a copyright violation. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 08:46, 23 October 2019 (UTC)- @OxonAlex: I would just reopen the AfD - I saw this on mobile and was going to vote !delete for a large range of reasons, copyright not being one of them, but it's now been withdrawn. It needs to be deleted as it stands. SportingFlyer T·C 10:25, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
AFD Discussion
There was a comment here I was replying to ~~ OxonAlex - talk 13:59, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
BigRed66, Please note that the reply to template has to be called by using {{replyto|person you're replying to}} - this gives the at sign. Simply using @ before a name won't work, and the user won't be notified. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 13:17, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
@OxonAlex: Thanks for the update. Repost: The article merely discusses the history of a football team and its accomplishments. I don't understand how this may be considered advertising or promoting. As for noteriety, there are several references listed to prove the validity of my article. A comment was made about generally not hosting material about "youth sports." My article focuses on the sport of football, regardless of its level of competition. Please reconsider instating my article. Another interesting fact, it is my understanding that this wbsite is in need of art or graphic designs. I can contribute a vast amount of this work through my article, if given the opportunity. Is history not one of the top subjects on this site? That is all I wanted to share in this community. As for being closely related to the topic of my article, I am the author of the work. BigRed66BigRed66 (talk) 13:48, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- BigRed66, the article is completely out of my hands now. Go and comment on the AFD - once an article has been sent there, what happens to it is decided by consensus there. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 13:56, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
New Page Review newsletter November 2019
Hello Alex Noble/Archives,
This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.
- Getting the queue to 0
There are now 804 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.
- Coordinator
Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.
- This month's refresher course
Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.
- Tools
- It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
- It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
- Reviewer Feedback
Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.
- Second set of eyes
- Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
- Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
- Arbitration Committee
The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.
- Community Wish list
There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

AIV reports
It's a good idea to give a user at least one warning, unless it's a pretty egregious vandalism spree that needs to be nipped in the bud quickly. Admittedly, this account showed little promise, but they probably should've been given a {{subst:uw-vand4im}} before reporting. OhNoitsJamie Talk 17:57, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
- Ohnoitsjamie, apologies. I seem have been a bit loose with the accounts I completely write off and sent straight to AIV. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 20:06, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
