Tajiks

[edit]

I have reverted all of your edits in the article Tajiks. Please discuss everything before deleting entire paragraphs, pictures, or even sources (in this case a Harvard University survey). Tājik 00:00, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

map & picture

[edit]

This picture you have uploaded is inaccurate and will be deleted soon. Here is the original version. Your map is obviously a wrongly altered one.

As for the picture: please DISCUSS it irst. Then let people VOTE which picture they like more. You can't just remove a picture and replace it with another one. And next time when you do that, do NOT simply "revert" to an older version, but only change the picture. Everytime you revert to a previous version (like here), you automatically revert corrected mistakes, too! Please stop that!

And, finally, do not forget to SIGN your comments on discussion-pages!

Tājik 22:39, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Btw: if you are looking for a map, try this one: [1] Tājik 22:42, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Middle East

[edit]

Please do not delete imortant information without discussing it first. The map used on the Middle East page is a good one. Just because it includes India on the map does not mean it is a part of the Middle East. Rather it is showing a bordering country. Thanks for your understanding. Khuda Hafiz. Pashtuns pictures

[edit]

Hello. I noticed you uploaded a lot of pictures in the Pashtuns article. Many of them look good, BUT it is considered a copyright infringement to create a collage including the young Afghan girl and possibly the other pictures as well. Their actual usage is considered okay, but altering them to fit into a collage is not. We tried it and were told that it violated copyright infringement laws. In a while a friend of mine, Khoikhoi, will return from his vacation and he had a good picture of typical Pashtuns that we wanted to use rather than the current collage, which looks good, but again violates copyright laws. Otherwise, your other additions look good! Tombseye 21:38, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Taliban

[edit]

I'm not trying to be rude with this, I'm just bringing it to your attention. There was a long discussion on the Taliban being a "government" or a "regime" on the US talk page. The final consensus was to use "government" or neither. If you want to read the discussion yourself and add to it, its located here: Talk:United States#the Taliban were a regime, NOT a government. Pashtun people

[edit]

Salaam Tajik-afghan! I really appreciate your additions to the Pashtun people article. The reason why I moved the image is because you placed it right in the middle of the link to Traffic. Doing so inhibits the ability of the link to work. Please scroll down after clicking here to see. Could you place the image in a location where the link will still work? Thanks for your understanding. Also, I wanted to comment on the great image of Dilip Kumar you found. Great job and keep up the good work. With regards, AnupamTalk 22:37, 21 October 2006 (UTC).[reply]

You are very welcome! Small mistakes happen. I really like the new additions you are making to the article. You might want to consider joining WikiProject Pashtun as you seem to be very knowledgeable in the area. Thanks again for all your constructive contributions. Khudai pa amaan, AnupamTalk 00:01, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again Tajik Afghan. I just wanted to inform you that someone deleted your images and removed them from the article because they did not have copyright status. I would recommend you reloading the images and placing copyright tags on them as they were wonderful images. Thanks! AnupamTalk 20:35, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! —Khoikhoi 04:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Afghanistan

[edit]

It is indeed sad that noone is interested in the POV propagated by User:NisarKand in the article Afghanistan. He is flooding the article with unsourced, false, and extreme Pashtun-natioanlistic POV, and noone dares to revert his nonsense.

That's really sad ...

About the picture you added to the Hammasa Kohistani article

[edit]

Hi there I just wanted to tell you that the picture you added goes against the consensus we reached on the talkpage. So I have removed the picture. There is only room for one picture and we all voted in a poll which was open for a month. And the overwhelming majority picked the picture that currently resides in the article. If you want to discuss changes to the pictures shown in the article please discuss it on the talk page before adding it. Thank you. --ĶĩřβȳŤįɱéØ 10:58, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How to change your user name

[edit]

Hi, I saw your comment at Tājik's talk page. To change your user name, simply follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Changing username. Regards, Khoikhoi 23:25, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article talks about all persian-speaking people as an ethno-linguistic group. There are some inconsistencies in the article (e.g. the population data) which should be resolved. If you want to change the subject of that page, at first discuss it in the talk page. Jahangard 00:15, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:NisarKand is messing up the article once again. He is replacing the ethno-linguistic maps with other, unreliable maps (which favour his Pashtun-nationalistic POV), pushes for the same unsoourced POV, etc. Please revert all of his changes to this version.

Unspecified source for Image:Ahmadinejad in Tajikistan.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ahmadinejad in Tajikistan.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. cholmes75 (chit chat) 12:53, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I just wanted to let you know that the Hammasa Kohistani picture is being put up for deletion

[edit]

It will be deleted in 7 days according to

This:

Thanks for uploading Image:Hammasa np6.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

That's what was placed on my talk page. -- ĶĩřβȳŤįɱéØ 10:33, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the infobox

[edit]

Hello. On the discussion page of Iranian peoples Khoikhoi and I agreed that the infobox is meant for ethnic groups and not a series of ethnic groups as the Iranian peoples are. In addition, the pictures are top heavy with Persians (eastern or not is irrelevant) and so it's just overall a bad addition to the page. Tombseye 22:19, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

The source was BBC Online, in 2002. I've added this info to the map. Unfortunately, I have no link for that article, because BBC removes old maps and articles from its servers after a while. But - as far as I know - there are no copy-right restrictions. There are no "BBC" initials etc on the map, and it does not appear anywhere else in the internet. Nor have I seen this map in any news-paper or magazine. Tājik 02:31, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Azeris were discussed for months in the talk page archives, and the eventual compromise was to have the paragraph saying, "Note: Azeris are, due to historical ties with various ancient Iranians and their cultural ties with Persians, sometimes included as an Iranian people, although the modern Azerbaijani language is a Turkic language and the issue remains debated". Therefore the current state of the list is result of a consensus, and you will have to use the talk page for any further changes in that part. Thanks, Khoikhoi 04:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Salam doost e aziz! I think you have expertise on Persian people of Afghanistan and Tajikistan. There are several articles that needs to include more material about Tajiks. For example: Persian pop music, Persian women, Iranian modern art, Persian theatre etc. I hope people like you will add some Tajik/Afghan materials to these articles. Otherwise Iranians, like me, put a lot of materials into these articles and they will gradually become our POV. Thanks and have a nice time. Sangak 11:29, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the links. I'll see what I can do on the Bamyan page. Make sure you check Kandahar where he is pushing for his POV and flodding the article with the usual unsourced garbage. He is even using wrong sources, pretending that the sources he posts support his view. If you click on the links, you will see that those sources do not have anything to do with his claims. Maybe we should contact an admin. Tājik 00:44, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I think we have enough maps already ... Tājik 23:10, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for for the link. The problem is that User:NisarKand is messing up all kinds of Afghanistan-related articles. Right now, he is busy on Kandahar, pushing for unsourced nonsense. He is even using fake sources ... he simply puts some names and links as "sources" to his claims, although those links do not support his claims at all. Please take some time to get an impression of his nonsense in that article. Tājik 21:35, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image uploads

[edit]

Hi- I noticed that you uploaded a few images from flickr that were tagged as permitting non-commercial use only - this and this for example, though I did not look back any further. Please note that under Wikipedia's image use policy, non-commercial only images are not permitted. CSD I3 actually allows these images to be speedy deleted on sight. Would you consider trying to contact the owners of these and any other images to request that they release them under a more free license? For an image to be used on Wikipedia, the license must allow commercial use and derivative works. I have had some success in my one foray into flickr - the photo on Frank Beamer is from a flickr user who was willing to change their license to accomodate Wikipedia and I found flickr users at least willing to listen. If a free license cannot be obtained for these images, could you tag them with {{db-noncom}} so that an administrator can delete them? Thanks. --BigDT 05:28, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Two Articles in need of your attention

[edit]

There are two entries at Wikipedia, which have falsely created -- they are Turco-Persian and Turko-Persian Tradition. Both entries are factitious. I have requested the entries to be deleted. My reasons are:

The term Turko-Persian Tradition (or Turco-Persian) does not exists academically and it is a factitious entry! Check the Encyclopaedia Iranica to confirm -- The correct name for that culture is the Persianate culture not the "Turko-Persian". Turkophones (mostly of mixed race and Persianized in culture) only spoke in Turkic dialects and were in the military. That is not enough participation in creating and forming the culture to deserve the name "Turko-Persian Tradition" – This is misinformation. All the elements in that area, which have to do with tradition and culture, were drawn from the Iranian culture (Persian, Kurdish, Azari, Baluchi, Tajik, Luri, Gilaki, Talishi, Mazandarani, etc.), and the Islamic faith, not much Turkic elements (like shamanism, yurts etc.) were incorporated in. That is what makes the name "Turko-Persian" an imaginary one and therefore the entry should be deleted.

Any contributions would greatly appreciated. Bā Sepās Surena 02:35, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection for Ahmed Shah Massoud

[edit]

Hello. I see you would like to have the Ahmed Shah Massoud article semi-protected. For this, you have to file a request at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection for it to be done by an admin. For more info see Wikipedia:Semi-protection policy.

Also, I don't understand your placement of the pictures on the Ismail Khan article. The "poster of a young Ismail Khan" shows him when he was young, but it was actually taken in 2005[3]. IMO it illustrates the efforts by I.K., now an established political figure, to uphold his popularity by conventional propaganda means. That's why I put it in the Post-Taliban era section. Image copyrights

[edit]

Behnam, I just went through all of NisarKand's image contributions and deleted about 80% of them as copyright violations. Now, I guess I should start doing the same with yours... :-( But I'm tired now and haven't got the time. Just be prepared, a quick glance at this doesn't look too good I'm afraid. Lots of questionable fair use claims. I think "fair use" is interpreted much more strictly than you seem to believe. Fut.Perf. 12:56, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary. Thanks, and happy editing.

Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks!
