Historical Article on William Buckels

[edit]

Not a joke

[edit]

The article William Buckels was not a Joke Article. See reference below.

[1]

Unfortunately it was deleted before I had a chance to finish my first draft.

I am a commercial fisherman as well as a software developer. In my life as a commercial fisherman, I was absolutely thrilled to discover that my namesake (William Buckels), also a fisherman, was responsible for the 14th century rise of the Dutch as a maritime nation through his discovery in the preservation of fish.

As I researched this further, I learned that the wikipedia netherland site had many references to this man. In the middle of composing my article, a wikipedia editor spammed this talk page scolding me, and deleted the article.

I contacted him without any response, and considering the matter further have decided to choose another wiki for this particular effort:

However, additions to Wikipedia articles on herring and gibbing ensure that Wikipedia users can also benefit from this delightful piece of history.

Hey Bill! I have good news. I appealed the decision and @Fuhghettaboutit was kind enough to undelete the article. Have a good day. Olivier Diotte (talk) 23:44, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ABINLOAD.GIF

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ABINLOAD.GIF. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:47, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Graham Shaw (musician) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. The-Pope (talk) 13:44, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On Talk:Graham_Shaw_(musician), I see that you made a comment that you were "checking with Graham for additional info". As per WP:COI, this is almost the worst person to be checking with, unless he has a scrapbook of press cuttings or similar, that verify his notability through significant, non-trivial coverage in reliable sources. His word, memory or any other primary sources aren't sufficient. The BLPPROD tag I've placed gives you, or anyone else, 10 days to find references, or else the article will be deleted. Regards, The-Pope (talk) 13:46, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help in understanding workin of inttypes.h

[edit]

Hello Bill Buckels!!! This is Jobin, a new editor to Wikipedia. I came to know that you are an expert C programmer and would willing help me out. I was just working on inttypes.h and got stuck in a problem. The code provided in the reference http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/basedefs.inttypes.h.html just does not seem to be working on my gcc compiler. The code is as follows for your reference:

  1. include <inttypes.h>

uint8_t smallval; int32_t longval; ... printf("The hexadecimal value of smallval is %" PRIx8

", the decimal value of longval is %" PRId32 ".\n",
      smallval, longval);

Can you please tell where am I going wrong? Jobin (talk) 10:32, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of GRASP GL library format

[edit]

The article GRASP GL library format has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable, belongs to the PCPaint, GLPaint, GLPro zoo of hopeless stubs

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Microsoft C cross-compiler

[edit]

Hi Bill,

I've read your contributions to Cross-compiler. As I explained in my comment on the talk page, I think you made a valuable contribution but that it isn't in the right article. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Microsoft_C&redirect=no would be a good place to move the content to. Everything that links there is related to the Microsoft C compiler. Olivier Diotte (talk) 01:15, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
