A tag has been placed on Columbia and Hamburg Railroad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Orashmatash (talk) 21:57, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's Manual of Style regarding Months

[edit]

Hello! I've noticed that you have recently been abbreviating the months in a number of articles, for example, shortening October to Oct., January to Jan., September to Sept. Wikipedia's manual of style actually shows months being written out, i.e., not abbreviated. You can read up on that here: WP:DATE. Sincerely, AzureCitizen (talk) 03:26, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your corrections. One little detail- Wikipedia's manual of style says to only abbreviate words when necessary. For a very specific guideline on months, see WP:MONTH.   Will Beback  talk  03:27, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please acquaint yourself with what the MOS actually says about formatting of dates and quotes; your edits to French and Indian War are breaking things that are already correctly formatted. See WP:MONTH and MOS:LQ. Thanks. Magic♪piano 04:02, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

These concerns about MOS:LQ also apply to your edits to Oakland Athletics. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's Manual of Style. — KV5Talk16:02, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Season in American baseball"

[edit]

I've just reverted a couple of your edits removing this phrase from articles. The reason this phrase is there is due to various editors/admins pointing out that not mentioning the sport in the intro is a violation of the MoS. If you can think of a better construction, feel free to change it, but it's got to keep the mention of baseball. -Dewelar (talk) 01:48, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. –BMRR (talk) 23:16, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, King’s Mountain Railroad

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, King’s Mountain Railroad. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Kings Mountain Railroad. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Kings Mountain Railroad - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. —KuyaBriBriTalk 16:16, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Port Royal and Augusta Railway, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://railga.com/portroy.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Note to Carolina cotton regarding repeated vandalism to page for Robert W. Harrell Jr.

[edit]

If you're not interested in abiding by Wikipedia's open-source guidelines, then start your own website for Speaker Harrell. Until then, stop deleting credible, factual and relevant references (such as newspaper articles). If you insist on posting political opinion blogs as your references, may I suggest you just comment directly on these political blog posts. South Carolina Research Authority

[edit]

I've protected the page at South Carolina Research Authority to avert a continued edit war between you and another editor. I could not help but notice that much of the material you are adding is sourced to a blog and appears to concern living persons. Our WP:BLP generally prohibits this; please read it when you get a chance. WP:RS may help as well. Kuru (talk) 20:16, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Robert W. Harrell, Jr. and my talk page

[edit]

I have no idea why Carolina cotton and EricJ1995 have chosen to conduct this debate on my talk page. To the best of my knowledge, I have had no involvement in any of these specific issues. Accordingly, I am asking both editors to take the discussion about any changes to Robert W. Harrell, Jr. to Talk:Robert W. Harrell, Jr., and that any further discussion about whether or not The Nerve is a reliable source be conducted at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. I will remove this discussion from my talk page in a day or two. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:46, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism - Self-published blog sourcing

[edit]

This post is to notify you that you are in violation of Wikipedia’s Verifiability Policy governing living persons articles.  Every post you have made to the article about Robert W. Harrell, Jr. has been in violation of this clearly stated Wikipedia policy by your continued use of citing a self-published Wordpress blog.  This is a formal warning to you.  If your violations continue, they will be viewed as intentional vandalism and your username will be reported to Wikipedia Administrators as a vandal.  EricJ1995 (talk) 14:45, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Third Warning: Vandalism - Self-published blog sourcing

[edit]

This post is your third warning to notify you that you are in violation of Wikipedia’s Verifiability Policy governing living persons articles. Every post you have made to the article about Robert W. Harrell, Jr. has been in violation of this clearly stated Wikipedia policy by your continued use of citing a self-published Wordpress blog.  Wikipedia's guidelines page regarding Biographies of Living Persons clearly states: "Never use self-published sources" and continues " 'Self-published blogs' in this context refers to personal and group blogs"   This is a third formal warning to you. Your intentions as a vandal have become clear by your persistence to intentionally violate Wikipedia's policies.  Your activity, by Wikipedia's definition, is a clear case of vandalism and your username will be reported to Wikipedia Administrators as a vandal. Final warning

[edit]

Your wordpress blog (southcarolina1670.wordpress.com) is not a reliable source for referencing material on Wikipedia. It is most certainly not to be used on biographies of living persons, such as Józef Kowalski, Bill Buckner, Charles H. Taylor, or Chris Chelios. You've been kindly warned about this before; further violations of our WP:BLP policy or edit warring will lead to blocks of this account. Please consider this a final warning. Kuru (talk) 04:27, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Along those lines, neither scpolicycouncil.org nor thenerve.org are reliable enough to base adverse or critical content in biographies of living persons, such as Robert W. Harrell, Jr. Consider these and similar sources within the purview of WP:BLOGS. JFHJr () 03:53, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Thomas Broughton (Acting Governor), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages William III, Cooper River and Mulberry Plantation. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Notice

The article Cincinnati and Charleston Railroad has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Content relies on dead link and is put in more detail on the successor pages rather than here.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
